Has anyone else experienced a/c going out (with under 15k mi) and dealer said no warranty coverage because a rock hit and punctured condenser? I felt scammed on that fix 5 months ago, asked for parts but who knows what shape it was in before they took it out - or even if the part they returned was actually from my Taco?) Now a/c out again and very hesitant to take to same dealer for service.
Anyone else had a road rock pierce your condenser?

Are you the same guy that the "rock hit" the charcoal canister and the dealer wouldn't cover that either?

Sounds like a cool new little tactic dealers are using to deny coverage.
I would tell the dealer that the burden of proof that a rock did the damage is on them.

Unfortunately for us the lower portion of the condenser is decently exposed. I haven't had any issues but I do have a few bent fins I can see from things having hit it.

No, charcoal issue was not me LOL...Could the design team and engineers not have figured such exposure is poor design, particularly for an off-road capable truck? And I don't even go off-road beyond our 50 acre farm!

I'll have to check my fins now. But my worry is that the compressor or the cooling fans will go out due to excessive wear from the short cycling A/C. They're constantly spooling up and down every 5 seconds and apparently from past posts this is normal. But here in Southern AZ the A/C gets heavy use. I've even pulled up next to other 4th gen and rolled my window down and could here them short cycling too.

I don’t think it matters much. All the vehicles I’ve owned have had pretty short cycle times on the compressor and I haven’t had any issues. Seems to be the norm these days.

It does sound stupid though. Especially the fan. Hear the fan rev up for 2 seconds and then shut back off. Makes no sense.

100% possible and common for rocks to hit condensers. They're at the front of every cooling pack. Bad luck for sure if that's the case, but without seeing the condenser itself no one can tell you if it's a "scam" or not.

Have you turned off “Auto A/C” in the infotainment screen menus? If you haven’t, I’ll check mine, because I can’t remember where it is exactly.

I don't have auto A/C. It's an SR5.

Any good repair shop (dealer or independent) should always give you the parts they replaced. Always state it up front that you want them if you want to help avoid feeling scammed/trusting them to just do it.

Then I need to investigate this. Where is it in relation to this photo?

Most of the holes where things would go through have been replaced by your aftermarket bumper. It’s the portion below the front license plate, but above the skid plate.
