Phone can only connect to one WIFI point. If you want to use it with Starlink and Android Auto or Carplay you need to use a USB cable to the display head.
Which is what I always do.

I have had my Starlink mini mounted to my roof rack using the the Veritas Vans mount and rack mount kit. I run the power and ethernet cable through the back window and cover that with XFasten Transparent Window Weather Sealing Tape. I plug the power into the Cig Adapter or USB-C. I plug the ethernet cable via USB-C adapter into my iPhone. Then it can be connected to the vehicle via WiFi. I have been looking for a black or gray cover that would fit over the Veritas Vans mount given it does not really blend in with black roof rack and canopy (white on black/bronze oxide). I think I will get this adapter and get the black liquid silicon case. 122 degrees F is the redline on temp for the Starlink mini. I would probably remove and stash it when I am not in the vehicle. That looks much easier with the adapter vs the roof rack mount.

Got my Broken Rover 3D printed mount. Quality is so-so but design and function is good.

I spent some time shaving the rough edges and reinstalling on the Mini a few times. My tiny brain finally realized my copy will only lock into the JBL dock if I press it in without it being mounted on the Mini first. Once the mount is in the dock, then it’s easy to slide the Starlink into place and lock in.

Fortunately, the mounted Mini fits my dashboard and is over top of my existing bullet point mounts, so it is not too busy and there is no interference.

I had bought a silicone sleeve, but returned it because it’s too thick and butts up against the windshield, in a way that interferes with the installation of the plane mini. I have ordered a ranger wrap to put on. Another problem with the silicone sleeve is that it was too reflective despite what the seller on Amazon claimed.. once I get the Ranger wrap on, I will post pics.

I have on order, should be here next week. Great feedback on the silicone sleeve. I was about to order that as well, now I will not. I look forward to your feedback on the ranger wrap.

This afternoon the Ranger Wrap arrived. Thought I ordered black Multicam but regular Multicam is what I got. It’s easy to put on and repositioning is easy too. Jen (wife) helped me by holding one end up a bit while I maneuvered the pieces onto the antenna.

We did the back bits first, then the one-piece front, so the fold-down sides would cover any small mishaps. Smooth it a few times to warm the adhesive and it will stay put in the corners. You can see where I had not smoothed it yet in one corner but it’s fine now.

There are a few bits we didn’t use because we have the Broken Rover mount.

Sleek and non-reflective beats the bulky distracting silicone sleeve that I tried last week. The sleeve would be good elsewhere like outdoors. Buy once, cry once. This truck tends to make my wallet cry often.

Thank you for the Ranger Wrap update. Would you be able to take off the Ranger Wrap, then re-add it repeatedly? I ask in case I need to put the Starlink Mini back in my Veritas Vans mount or if temps get extreme while operating it.

They indicate Yes but probably there are limits to how many times you can do that since it is just adhesive.

Are the screws on the mount how it locks in place so it doesn't come out with every bump?

I'm considering 3D printing something similar with better quality filament and printing (every picture I've seen screams a poor/quick print job). Found some JBL speaker delete templates--some with those screws and some without, and I assume those screws are required to secure it.

No screws — it slides into place.

Hmm, the picture makes it look like the mount has screws/bolts/metal shafts--not that screw into the dash to secure it but for a locking mechanism. Are they not needed?

Edit: After looking at this picture it looks like yes, those are how it locks in.

Yup, you figured it out.
They would hold better if they were smoothed out - pins instead of screws - IMO.

Thanks. I should be able to make my own starlink mount pretty easily with better printing and filament. I'm considering that or just a ball mount so I can easily swap out what is up there.
