Rabbits are a problem here in the rural areas of the Sacramento Valley. I have heard of a mesh screen being used over the cabin air vent in the engine bay for smaller rodents, but that wouldn't help, with respect to the engine wiring. How could they effectively screen the underneath of the vehicle or the wiring under the hood?
I am also in the Sacramento valley, small world.

Has anyone done the rodent screen protection that Toyota offers? I took my truck in to have some of the recalls done and they said they saw evidence of rodents, nothing crazy, just some foot prints. They asked if me if wanted their rat protection mesh to stop them from getting into the cabin and other areas where they could potentially get in and start chewing wires. It’s $562 dollars. I’m wondering if anyone has had this service from the dealers and if it’s worth it. It just feels like another one of their add-ons that they try to push on me every time I go in.
SO ..... Besides asking to see the "Footprints" I'd also ask - After spending $562 Toyota will Warranty the Wiring against Rodent damage - RIGHT ??? LOL
