Rabbits are a problem here in the rural areas of the Sacramento Valley. I have heard of a mesh screen being used over the cabin air vent in the engine bay for smaller rodents, but that wouldn't help, with respect to the engine wiring. How could they effectively screen the underneath of the vehicle or the wiring under the hood?
I am also in the Sacramento valley, small world.

Has anyone done the rodent screen protection that Toyota offers? I took my truck in to have some of the recalls done and they said they saw evidence of rodents, nothing crazy, just some foot prints. They asked if me if wanted their rat protection mesh to stop them from getting into the cabin and other areas where they could potentially get in and start chewing wires. It’s $562 dollars. I’m wondering if anyone has had this service from the dealers and if it’s worth it. It just feels like another one of their add-ons that they try to push on me every time I go in.
SO ..... Besides asking to see the "Footprints" I'd also ask - After spending $562 Toyota will Warranty the Wiring against Rodent damage - RIGHT ??? LOL

I had the same thing coming from routine maintenance at the dealership. They said they removed nests out from the cabin air filter area. They quoted $300 for a screen. I can't find anything like that and was wondering if anyone on here has found this "screen?"

Rodents have eaten/nested in one of my cabin air filters and have also chewed up my windshield washer lines. Anyone know where the inlet to the cabin air filter is? I've seen this mod for 3rd gens but nothing yet for the 4th gens.

Have many cabin filters are there? I thought there was only one? But interested to hear where to ‘block’ the rodents

One. I meant they’ve consumed/nested in 1 so far in 25k miles. I just bought a multi pack on Amazon. Cheaper than the dealer and takes 60 sec to change.

Do you have a link? I couldn't find anything pertaining to the cabin filter on Amazon

Never seen any kind mesh install but at my dealer, we offer a rodent protection spray that we apply to the wires. Its kind of a tacky coating that deters rodents for anyone that has any signs of rodents nesting or chewing wires. People can also have it done if they are concerned they may have a rodent problem in their neighborhood. Its around 5-10 bucks and is recommended to be done every oil change to maintain efficacy. We also offer installation of those ultrasonic sound modules by bringing in an installer that does those and our aftermarket remote starters.

does anyone have photos of their installs of rodent repelling gear?
There are many videos on YouTube showing how repellents don't work.

I'd like to know how those buggers are getting in. There has to be a fix for it.
