I’m loaded down and getting sticker— city currently. Gonna do a long trip soon, will test a few things but overall there’s some methods to get higher MPG on the halos:

1- ECO mode for city. It governs the HVAC system & electrical beyond traffic type start/stop driving.
2- Normal mode for highway. When using 120v for power stations and charginv power tools etc, power on your AC inverter during descents while the engine is charging the NiMH. Avoid running the inverter on climbs. Normal mode is fine for almost all highway driving unless you hit stop & go traffic out there.
3- aero makes a difference. I’m a few hundred miles in with a modified chin spoiler. They work. Anyone who says different is an idiot. Block em.
4- rolling resistance. If you care what your treads look like, you don’t care what your MPGs look like. Buy accordingly. I’m still on the OE wranglers.
5-don’t drive like an asshole.

You can ABSOLUTELY max your MPG with a chin spoiler, light tires, etc. I just personally don’t care about MPG on a truck like this. But it’s cool you have proven the concept. I always wonder why F150s get better mileage.

4 miles is not really a distance where you can trust the MPG. Not willing to put a snow plow on my TH i still get 22 on the highway.

I'd never put a chin spoiler on my truck, even for better fuel mileage. If I had wanted an ugly truck I would have bought a Ford. :)

Hi all, my TH I have removed the roof rack, installed a decked storage and an Alucab contour canopy. The decked has a bunch of junk in it so I’m hauling a couple hundred pounds more than needed. my mileage is averaged at 12.4 l/100kms (18.97 us mpg) with a best tank at 9.9 l/100km (23.76 us mpg) this is a combination of pavement/gravel roads with a smattering of off road traveling.

For me it would defeat entirely the off-road purpose and off-road look - there are a number of high efficiency options if that’s the priority - it’s just not the priority for me. 18-19 is fine with my big tires, 12” running clearance, and 5700 lb curb weight before I even step into the truck

Yep that chin spoiler is not only hard on the eyes it would seriously get in the way in any hard core off road stuff. I always tell people who complain about mpg that they bought the wrong vehicle if they wanted great mileage, particularly one of the halos.

I think people complain about 4th gens because they miss the EPA target, sometimes by a lot. My truck started out really low but as I have added miles it is at or just below the EPA rating on most drives. Just this morning it broke both rear tires loose when I goosed it, which is a lot more fun than hypermiling for me.
