Warranty and aftermarket dash cam.

Has anyone had any issues with installing a aftermarket dash cam and dealership/ warranty issues?
I’m considering adding a Dongar adapter and dash cam. There seems to be some thoughts on adding non-eom devices will create a Toyota Warranty problem. Any experience or suggestions?

I added my Garmin Mini 2 using the Dongar and can't imagine it causing a warranty issue. It works great. (But you do have to turn Carplay off in your phone to access videos wirelessly.)

All that the adapter does is plug (inline) into the 12-volt mirror circuit and then reduce the power to 5 volts for the camera.

I have an aftermarket dash cam (Momento M7) hard wired and was worried that Toyota would try and blame my camera for killing my 12v battery. The camera has a feature that it reduces battery draw by 90% while parked.

Turns out my battery was defective and got replaced under warranty

Magnuson-Moss act. The dealership would have to PROVE that what you installed is the cause of whatever problem you’re having.

If you install a camera, and your headlights stop working, for example, they need to draw a line from the headlights to your dashcam.

If you have the plug above the drivers head, hidden by the sunglasses holder, that is the factory dashcam wiring. The Dongar Pro will tap that and provide all the stuff you need to install a camera.
