Today my tailgate theft protector from Cali Raised came in and it took all of 3 minutes to install it. I had my 3rd gen truck for almost 10 years and had thought about the Sabelco theft protector but it was 5 times as much and I could just not motivate myself to pull the trigger on it. The Cali Raised on sale was only $22 and I figured it was cheap insurance protection. I have a locking tailgate with a hard tonneau cover and live in a nice area so it is unlikely that it would ever be needed but it is always better to have something and not need it rather than needing something and not having it. The piece is solid stainless steel and comes with tamper resistant hardware and the install bit. I think this is the first time I have ever bought anything from them but they have good customer service, at least for me they did.

Got rid of those hideous 17" SR5 silver wheels that look like cheap Pep Boys wheel covers and the 245/70-17 tires and had Discount Tire mount 18" TRD takeoffs I picked up cheap and 265/65-18 Continental HT tires. Looks better, rides better and now my speedometer is accurate with the taller tire. With the originals the speedo was reading 3 mph faster that what I was going.

I read a government statistic that there are over 170,000 vehicle fires on the highway every year and just a few weeks ago there was a pick up truck fire not far from the dealer that I bought the parts from. Even though there is only a small percentage of fires that are a result of a damaged gas tank I still decided to get the OEM skid plate that comes on the Off Road and Pro models. I got the parts from Wesley Chapel Toyota because they always give you their dealer discount and also stack the Toyota discount on top of that. The link below is to their discount parts web site and you have to use this link because they also have a full price website for parts. The skid plate is made of a hard composite material that only weighs 2.5 pounds which is more that 10 times less than the average aluminum skid plate. An added benefit is that this skid plate will give a small improvement to the aerodynamics under the truck. Today it only took about an hour to install and it would have been a lot less if I did not have to also replace 2 of the bands and a bracket.

A few days ago I also had my windows tinted. I used the Huper-Optic triple ceramic tint which blocks 91% of the IR radiation heat gain as opposed to the single ceramic tint which block only 67% of the heat gain. The person who did the tint had a heat lamp which showed the difference and it was substantial.

Then install a Cobb high clearance exhaust. Maybe ill get CAMTuning later. Added a 41.22 hitch slider too.

Camera made it look closer to the tree than it actually is - it's a legit vehicle turnout, so nobody freak out lol.

Nice!! I’ve always wanted hot water when I’m out in the bush. My wife tells me “Cowboys didn’t have hot water heaters on their horses”. I had to stop her right then and there, ”No, STUPID Cowboys didn’t have hot water heaters on their horses”. Sheesh! And she wonders why I call her Crazy Mary.
