I towed my converted cargo trailer out camping A few weekends ago. Added the trailer in the truck and selected it. Plugged it into the truck and used tow/haul mode while driving. Everything went fine. That night I unplugged the trailer and ran into town to get us dinner. Right after starting the truck I got an error saying that a few systems were unavailable, to see the owners manual, the trailer was still detected and trailer driving assist was active. Once I started driving, a different error came up saying “trailer not detected please confirm yes or no”. I confirmed no and went and got dinner.
after that, every time I started and drove the truck, it did exactly the same thing. Even after hooking the trailer back up and towing it home. After I got home and unhooked the trailer. It was still doing the same thing so I deleted the trailer and boat that I had stored in the trucks trailer settings and still no luck.
I took it to Toyota and they first changed a break solenoid under the dash. That didn’t fix it so they said they needed to change the brake manifold and it would take 5 days to get the part. The next day they called and said it was fixed. That an engineer told them to unplug the battery for three hours, reinstall the original break solenoid and that was it. They told me to disconnect it in the truck settings next time before unplugging it from the truck. The r & r of the break solenoid was not on my paperwork and they left 2 of the 3 seat fasteners on the back floor (hybrid truck).
fast forward to today. I took my boat in for a service and I did exactly what they told me as far as the order of disconnecting and unplugging, and right away the truck is doing the same thing every time I started driving and drive the truck. It thinks the trailer is still connected and wants me to confirm yes or no.
Has anyone else had any issues with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. See attached pictures for the errors I am getting.
