Ya mine always bounces between the - and the + on the little digital battery. When I got in the truck today is was closer to the plus and when driving it’s closer to the minus lol

let me know if you do the optima battery. I don’t like having less than 100% confidence when I am hours away from a road.

Also, ooooof your trans temp, lol
Yeah, the trans temp was cool (middle of meter) until I was spending time backing uphill to park in our sloped driveway. Three tries to get it to wife’s liking…she’s trying to train me to be as good at it as she is.

The ‘24 THs have the same parasite draw, double check your lights, scene lights, aux etc. swap the starter battery, get a maintainer or a solar charger controller. If your start battery is dialed, truck is dialed.

I have had this problem ever since I bought my truck. The dealer says everything is fine and that I need to drive it more. I pointed out that the charge stays low in my 12V no matter how much I drive it, and then they said buy a battery maintainer. We are talking about a new $66k truck here!

This seems to be a common problem with Toyota hybrids. I keep a jump pack in my glove box and periodically put on my battery maintainer, which seems to do the trick. When the constant low state of charge kills my 12V I will buy a yellow top Optima.

Something is clearly wrong with these trucks but as long as Toyota says there isn't and won't fix it, it is on us to either sell them or find our own solutions.

When I went to pick up my new truck when I bought it, the little battery was dead. Fortunately, my salesperson who was great, said that's not right, asked if I could wait, and they put a brand new one in instead of just jumping it and slapping my tailpipe on the way out the lot.

His guess was that on the lots, they just putter around in EV, which doesn't charge the battery, but all hotel loads seem to still draw from it, not the hybrid one.

I read that the DC/DC converter that charges the 12V works whenever the ignition is on, no matter what drive it is using, but I don't know if that is true.

When I was driving 50 miles round trip every day to work the battery was fine, but I didn't check the actual voltage because it always started. The problem for me began when I started to work from home and it sits around for part of the week. A lot of people who don't daily their 4th gens have this problem. One forum member said Toyota keeps a trickle charger on their trucks they display at car shows so they don't go dead. lol

I have dealt with this problem since I got my truck 2yrs ago. The dealership was finally convinced that it was a bad battery when it happened to them during a warranty check. So far so good since they replaced the battery.
They did measure the parasitic draw on it and all was fine. Just a crappy battery from the factory.
