Just got to the dealer. Waiting for diagnosis.

Bought the truck a little more than a week ago. Drove maybe 1/2 mile this morning and started getting errors. Very frustrating.

Not the battery and not the hybrid system according to the service advisor. It sounds like something to do with the fuel system. They are getting errors that there is too much fuel and errors that there is not enough. Clear them and they come right back.

The service director & a tech took it on a test drive with real time monitoring and they still have no idea what is causing the errors. They put me in a loaner Camry and are waiting for a Toyota field engineer to take a look in the next couple days.

It's got me pretty nervous since we put a deposit on a 4Runner ORP hybrid that is supposed to be here later this week. Same power train. Service advisor says "yeah but they are made in Japan". A look at the 4Runner forum shows many of the same problems I see on this site.

I don't have the codes. I was going to the dentist this morning when the errors started popping up. As it happens the Toyota dealership is a block away from my dentist, so I stopped there after my appt.

The MFD shows a consistent "Hybrid System Malfunction", but initially spit out a bunch of others before I stopped at my dentist (rear sensor issue was one I saw - they were coming pretty quick and I was driving). After I restarted to go to the dealer it was just a "Check Engine", "Hybrid System Malfunction", and "System Malfunction".

yeah but they are made in Japan
LOL so they know they're fleecing us with trucks made in Mexico, alright.

Bring Tacoma manufacturing back to the US. Even if it's the same junk plastic interior and rattly engine at least it was made by Union employees that could be your neighbors and friends.

I have nothing against stuff made in Mexico, I have a MX passport but this is getting crazy 😂

I like the 6G 4Runner, maybe I'll get an SR5 before they discontinue the 6G in 10 years or whatever.. hopefully they'll still have J vins by then.

I live in a pretty redneck area. I didn't point out that the engines and transmissions are built in Japan and just assembled in MX.

Pretty sure the T24A-FTS is made in Alabama and the AL80 is made in Japan by Aisin.

Which tells you something I guess... but I mean the guys snapping the interior bits together and running the paint lines should be local. I would have paid more for my truck to have a 1 or 5 vin as long as it meant American union workers got paid a living wage to assemble it.

There's some pretty stupid defects on my truck that should have been addressed before it landed at the dealer lot but yours is much worse.

At least the shit that matters seems solid in most of these trucks (sort of) lol

Probably a bad sensor somewhere..

I own a ‘24 TH took all year to take delivery with the high mount intake port hold, basically I have a ‘25, so far not a single issue sans a bad starter battery. You’re gonna love that truck man who gives a fck where it’s made, Yota global supply chain, shits made everywhere but Russia Iran & North Korea and yet all those d bags buy hilux!
