Little update: it is indeed cracked. The ETA on the part is 2-5 days.. not convinced on that after reading here.. and a 15 hour fix. They gave me a choice to leave it or bring it back. Decided to leave it since I have another vehicle I can drive and don’t want any more drippage damaging anything. They also said it was the first time they’re hearing of this issue
Hopefully it works out for you,I just got an update from my case worker with Toyota Canada that part is now end of November/early December…???

It was an assembly problem in Guanajuato (3TY). The evaporator box is attached to the front crash bar. The mounting points were not where they should be, because the crash bar was out of spec. When the part is screwed into place the stress cracks the evaporator.

According to Toyota this problem was resolved and should not happen in later builds. I have not seen this problem in any trucks built in Baja (3TM).
Well I don’t think mine looks cracked yet…guess time will tell. I’ve only driven 122 miles. But as you said, the install should have cracked it. I worry too damn much.

Yeah - it will probably be fine if it isn't cracked now. I think most of them came that way and didn't develop over time.

Update: went in today to pick up the truck since the part was back ordered, as I suspected it would be, and they let us trade it full price for a new truck almost exactly the same except it doesn’t have the black pro wheels. It has the 3tm vin built 7/24 and not in the transmission issue range. I feel like I can breathe a little easier but we shall see!

Took my 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road to dealership back in October for this same leak. After 7 weeks the part came in and went to pickup my truck today to find the dash was not aligned, had scratches, was loose in places and grease hand marks on my seat. Only 3,000 miles on the truck! They are trying to “fix” their mistakes but feel like it will not be the same again. Not sure if I should demand a replacement truck or seek my money back. Anyone ever had to do this?

Removing the dash and all the components to get to that part is a major ordeal. By the sounds of how messy they were, I would be holding them accountable. I had a vehicle with a mysterious rattle from the day I drove it off the lot and after several attempts by the dealership to fix it, I gave up and lived a few miserable years with it and then eventually sold it because of it. So unless they can get it back to perfect, I would look into a different truck/replacement.

Gotta love a lazy looser hack flat rate “certified tech” working on your brand new truck, very few techs are quality oriented. I’m a collision tech and I’m beyond ocd about repairing customers vehicles down to the littlest of things, it makes me feel good to repair a vehicle like it were my own, granted I’m not perfect and have my mistakes but it all comes down to PRIDE

As anal and adamant as I've seen you here about the trans issues, I would trust you with something like a dash replacement lol

Have the same issue with my 3TY vehicle. Has been to two dealers who did not find any source of the leak. Last dealer asked me to bring it in while the leak is occurring. Happened today quite a bit and unfortunately it is a holiday so could not swing by. I did however pop the panel under dash as soon as I came home and took a photo and video of issue. I will contact the dealer tomorrow to advise and provide photo and video.

I did note in many of the pictures as well as with my leak that the seam of the crack has yellow stuff that almost looks like some sort of a glue. Wondering if they tried to glue these up at the factory once they realized they were cracking them during installation.

Yeah - that does look like a really lame attempt at a "repair". That would be sleazy if the dealer did it and outright fraud if they did that at the factory.

Doubt it was a dealer attempted repair. Looks like the same stuff I saw on multiple photos posted by others.
