Ok, hear me out.
I installed a rear hellwig sway bar on my 4th gen.
Strictly trying to eliminate as much body roll as possible.

Just want this to be a discussion about the 4th gen, not your experience with the bar on the 3rd gen, thats different...

Anyone running a HW sway bar on their 4th, what is your take on what you felt after installing it vs OEM???

Thanks...

Glad you brought this up. I have a canopy camper and the Hellwig was on my radar. My truck is heavy. As soon as I get back from my summer adventure I will be ordering the Hellwig sway bar. I wish I had time before I left to get this installed.

I'm also curious if anybody has gone there yet.

I got a feeling this thread will go no-where but per HW, they sold a few hundred SB's for the 4th gen, so theyre out there....
Hoping to get some feedback to see if im crazy behind my thoughts.....

Like i said, I'm on my summer adventure, the second major trip in this truck. The perceived need for a larger sway bar was noted last time, but i didn't become aware of the Hellwig until just before I left on this trip.

I could use the mini computer in my hand but.... What makes the Hellwig appealing ? After extending the end links my truck definitely feels better, so curious about this and why this over any other option.

I didn't know anyone had a bar for our trucks. I had TRD F/R bars on my 2013 Tundra CM and it really improved the handling. Now I'm considering this bar for my truck.

I just ordered it. I'll let you know how it works out.

I ran the Hellwig rear sway bar for a few months then returned it. At first the truck took corners like it was on rails. After about two weeks the stock tail lean returned. Re-torqued everything. All was good for another few weeks. Again, the lean returned. I compared the torque spec from Hellwig with OE specs. Hellwig lists the u-plate‘s torque at 27 lb-ft. OE lists it at 72 lb-ft. Maybe it’s a typo by Hellwig. Out of the box there was a massive dried bead of paint that ran down the bar, preventing the bushings from wrapping around. Also the u-plates and the u-plate support spacers both have oblong mounting holes, allowing for a sloppy fit with almost 1/2” of travel up and down. Reached out to customer service twice. No help. Hellwig makes good products. I feel like they rushed to get this on the market.

I'm committed at this point but good info. Doing some research it sounds like the bar is walking in the brackets. The paint bead would definitely alter the clamping force of the brackets and the oblong holes are no help. Curious as to why the torque specs are so different.

On the plus side, install is a snap. Messing with the driveline probably took the longest. Once you have the bars side by side you’ll see how impressive the Hellwig bar is. The weight difference between the two made me laugh.

I snaked the bar in & out without messing with the driveshaft at all!
Had all 4 tires on the ground too....

You found additional info online with poor results from this bar on the 4th gen?
If so, share...
Also Kevin at hellwig is WORTHLESS!!!
Thats probably who you dealt with, he's a waste of a paycheck.
Andrew is the man, he's been there 30 years & is the lead designer & knows his stuff.

I dont want to say to much as everything may all be in my head.
Testing at hellwig is taking place now, now that I brought my thoughts to Andrews attention....

Hellwig makes amazing products, usually.

The email replies I received from Hellwig were short and very poorly written. I assumed their customer support wasn’t local and they wouldn’t have experience with the product. Also, my concerns/issues would require a redesign. So the bar was returned for a refund.

It was good chatting with you about this on the phone. Hopefully their testing brings some light to the issues, and please share what they discover. I would probably buy another bar from Hellwig if they sort out the kinks.
