Things like this is why I laugh out loud whenever I question a dealerships quality before I become a customer and the service department proudly states we have ASE certified techs (monkeys).

It's possible the OP won the bad part lottery.
I'm not putting any money on that though.

It's definitely possible. I get bad parts out of the box multiple times a week. This should absolutely have been caught before leaving the shop. Any time I do brake work, the vehicle gets a good test drive and re-check before it leaves the shop.

I wonder why a lot of us don't trust dealer service? Maybe because for everything they fix they break something else. Get that truck towed to the dealer asap.
Imagine taking your vehicle for a safety recall and the vehicle being less safe then before the recall was performed...

UPDATE: checked under truck, sure enough rear passenger side brake line leak. Oil is everywhere. Even in the wheel well, brake fluid is even lower under hood.

What a bummer. That doesn't look like brake fluid on your fingers.

Mistakes can happen anywhere, but in my market area we've taken our Toyotas to the dealer that gets the "president's award" even though they're never a bargain for sales or service. They did more than I expected for this recall and the blind spot reprogramming.

How they approached it is likely just good business for them and consumers. My $0.0 receipt for the warranty work includes .25 and .8 hour line items charged to Toyota warranty for inspection and straightening the bed on frame.

Best wishes in getting it all resolved.

I got my done today and when I picked it up from the dealer. I had to really step the brake pedal. It felt like a sponge. Not like before. I called and will bring it back tomorrow morning. The pictures are from today.

No brake oil splatter in the front wheels. The oil reservoir is at MAX fill. I made sure the cap is tight and not loose.

It sucks :(

Ok, Iā€˜m not going to get my brake lines done until CA tells me I can’t get it registered.

They messed up my recall repair in two ways.

The first way was they forgot to plug the radiator fan back in, causing my engine to overheat twice.

The second way was they didn't install the hose back on correctly leading to a slow leak. I got braking power low notification and had to take it back.

Day 2 and the dealership finally fixed the loose brake pedal issue.

In the documentation says, ā€œ Tech notes: possible air in trap in rear caliper…bleed calipers.ā€.

I thank the dealer for owning for it and taking accountability. Day and night difference.

For anyone hesitant to do the recall. Be sure to tell them to Test drive after the recall work is done.

Now I can hit the trails.

Local dealership called me this morning wanting to schedule my recalls and order the parts. Told them I wasn't interested at this time.

I don't have the brake recall, just the instrument cluster one. My truck's dash display works fine and I don't intend to let them touch it until I am ready to sell. I have never trusted Toyota service and lately it has gotten a lot worse.
