I think my transmission shifts better with Driven 80W-90 GL4. My favorite manual trans fluid I’ve tried across all my vehicles.

In all my vehicles i run Amsoil fluids, but the exception is the MTF (and brake fluid, dot 5.1 FTW), I tried it in my mr2 but swapped it out immediately as it seemed to grind more often, this was on a pretty worn e153. MT90 is fantastic, redline 75w85 with a pint of LWSP is better, the ford magic gl4 transmission juice is even better but at well over 30$ a quart it's a big ask even for me.

I think I’m the only person on the planet that didn’t like the Ford stuff at all. Everybody else raves about it, I did not like it. I’ve tried it, MT-90, stuff from Sta-Lube, Ravenol, and Driven. And Amsoil in a friend’s truck. Driven beats every one of them for me and it’s like $15 a quart at Summit.

My specific experience finds that conventional = better, synthetic = worse.

MT90 every 30k miles (50k km) and you won't go wrong. Use whatever 75w90 is cheapest for the diffs. Transfer case uses Redline MT-LV.

I'm only at 5,000 km (so 3,000 miles) but with all the threads showing shavings in the trans or diff fluid, I'm going to replace mine earlier, say at 10,000 km.
