I've brought the subject up before when i had my 3rd gen Taco and now it's all about the 4th gen. I want a full power, drop-down rear window for my Taco. Yes, the entire rear glass window rolls completely down. Toyota offers this for the Tundra, but why not the Tacoma ? Has anyone seen an aftermarket install with this mod ?

I had this style rear window on a 36 Ford coupe, on that car there was a need for air flow/ventilation. Given the high cost of an option like this. how do you justify it?

Well Charlie i believe it would be on the pricy side for sure but the added space would be the perfect RV for me and my travels. If i could get this done to my Taco I would then purchase a top of the line insulated camper shell, then remove the center counsel between the driver and passenger seat. I would then have easy access from the drivers seat, passing through the the rear window, and into the back of the pickup. A single bed, mini kitchen w/fridge, a toliet, and a TV, and my RV would be complete.

I am constantly on the road throughout the year spending a ton of cash on hotels. It would pay for it self the first year. This would be an iron-clad, extremely secure vehicle with locks on every door. I would feel very comfortable pulling into Interstate rest areas and truck stops for the night. I honestly can't believe Tundra owners haven't figured this out. And please don't say "then buy a Tundra". I keep my Taco locked up in the garage every night. You can't do that with a Tundra. :)

The backseat is already very small, that would even take up more space. So, I think that's the obstacle to achieve that.

Given the goals stated, it would seem that a straightforward removal of the rear glass would be a far less pricey solution. If a divider still be needed, perhaps that could be built as part of the RV section in the bed. Sounds like a good project.
