Interior mod - what to do with the side slot?!

I don’t know what to call this … shifter-side-space? Side slot? Centre cubby?

who has found a use for this space? It’s too deep for a phone or keys etc, hard to get anything out. It seems like a tray-mod or divider would make it way more useful…

My wife puts her sunglasses there. Mine go in the overhead compartment. She's jealous because her Camry doesn't have the overhead sunglass storage! I tell her it's okay, she has auto windshield wipers and memory seats, that I don't have!!! Real World Problems!

I hate the overhead sunglass storage. Any glasses I put in there rattle like crazy and I hate noises like that haha.

Maybe I should put them in a soft bag then in there...

I just lay the soft bag the sunglasses came on the bottom of the holder and put the sunglasses on top of the soft bag, no rattles at all and the bag is there to use if I need it.

I think that's same brand as my wallet here. That space is plenty useful. In addition to a refillable bottle of sanitizer it will hold a wrapped snack, glasses, passes, and more.

Fairly often criticism of the 4th gen interior have me thinking the owners did not try as many alternatives as we did. For function, comfort & quiet the 3rd generation is great against a lot of vehicles and especially mid-sized pickups.

Sunglasses in the side slot - I have large ones that go over my prescription eyeglasses. They don't really fit anywhere else.

A 6' USB cable lives in the overhead sunglass holder.

My phone rests face-down, upside down, between the Qi charger and the 12v socket. It's a Pixel 8 Pro and since it has a big ol' camera hump it doesn't like to wirelessly charge while sitting upright. Frequent disconnects, excessive heat, etc. I use a short USB cord to charge it instead. I've pulled the fuse for the Qi charger, and a small bottle of hand sanitizer lives in front of the charger.
