Damn that thing is massive! Would have to imagine its at least as much as the last gen design which was around 33 Gallons.

EDIT*** Just saw another post and as I suspected, it is 33 Gallons which is a huge improvement over the factory 18.

Will you have to do work on the suspension on this side for the added weight?

Is that available yet, or is it still just a prototype? I checked their website (outta curiosity), and they only list the 33-gal fuel tank for Gen 1-3 Tacoma. I don't see anything available yet for the 4th gen.

Saw this posted on Facebook as well, and the poster mentioned that the tank goes on pre-order oon 5 Aug. He also said it was a 36gal tank. Kinda hope that's true. I want this due to my excessive work commute and occasional cross-country towing.

Just based on rough specs, it's only a ~136.6 pound difference filled - spread over the length of the tank
An extra 53 of fuel (14 gallons) weighs approximately 85lbs. You add the weight of the long range gas tank that's 90lbs = 175 lbs. from what I can find the stock tank weights 35-40 lbs empty so. More like 140 - 145lb difference. Which still isn't bad at all. 100% Worth considering if the Toyota computer could be adjusted for the fuel capacity.

Just looking at the 3rd gen one... LRA says
  • The fuel gauge will remain accurate, DTE will not. Once the E-light comes on there is 7 gallons remaining.
7 gallons which would be ball park 100 miles... so the factory DTE isn't all that important.... but would still be nice .

An extra 60 litres of fuel (17 gallons) weighs approximately 105lbs. You add the weight of the long range gas tank that's 90lbs = 195 lbs. from what I can find the stock tank weights 25-35 lbs empty so. More like 170 - 160lb difference. Which still isn't bad at all. 100% Worth considering if the Toyota computer could be adjusted for the fuel capacity.

Stock tank capacity is 18.2 gallons and the info based on the LRA page says stock tank is 45lbs, so only an additional 45 pounds for the tank and 14.8 extra gallons.

A gallon's 6.07lbs. If it's 36 gallons (mentioned elsewhere), that'd be 219 lbs. My guess is the tank (aluminum) plus hardware's going to be at least 50 lbs. So that's potentially a 275 lb (full) item.

I got an email saying there will be available on 8/5.

At this time only folks that were signed up on their wait list can preorder. It will be available to the general public for ordering on August 5th. See the long thread on this subject, and specifically post #36. The release price was $2,600.

Update: Convo #2 with spouse.

Me: “I’m feeling closer to comfortable now as a California buyer. Let’s go to Boise this fall. Pretty sure we can schedule with LRA to have them install. Hope I don’t go to jail.”

She: “At least I’ll have the gas to get there and visit you.”

We forked over the funds.
