Not here to start drama, how much of this is the way you drive though? I drive pretty conservatively (some would say grandpa like) and get good MPG out of my truck.

Have any TH owners chimed in that drive 68 on freeways, and don't speed around town?

I can lightly tap my TRD off-road with 33” wheels in the attached photos all day and get 22 mpg according to the computer… but who the f$ck wants to drive a truck like that? If you do then you guys bought the wrong vehicle (my opinion of course ). Toyota also sells a Prius!

if you do any work with your hands and actually did something useful in the past 10 years…it unbolts in less than 5 minutes.

But yea if you’re an old fart and you prefer to leave the rock sliders on for those Costco hauls & donut runs, you bet doing any work is a major hurdle, and you should keep your ass at home and continue offering lame advice.

That’s cool you drove a gnarly trail ‘that one time’ and have your rock sliders still on to prove it.
Actually I have done a couple things sir. I built a really functional offgrid trailer in top of a 2004 Penman Iraqi war utility trailer with welding and custom made kitchen etc and prior I rebuilt a 73 Dodge Challenger restomod right from bare body. And before that a while ago I built an RV6 kitplane and flew across Canada in it cruising at 185kts and around 14000ft. Was just saying about your spoiler as up in the Rockies foothills here raw offroading we see about 50 or so chin spoilers on the ground at most times due to the terrain being knarly. Some advice I have is slow down if you want to stretch your mileage out as most posters here get reasonably good mileage from their rigs and you are hybrid. And with turbo vehicles (and the electric system) you need to use the torque more than rpm to get the job done.

Back in my day we dealt with wisenheimers using only two ingredients, a bar of Fels-Naptha and a choice leather strap. He needs to take the cotton out of his ears and put it in his fresh mouth. A wise man once said, “It’s better to remain quiet and be thought a bunyak than to open your mouth and remove all doubt”.

Idk man trucks are heavy, they can do a lot of damage if you get into an accident. I drive the thing pretty chill on the street.

That's what the weekend car is for :like:

If anyone has apples-to-apples before/after numbers (same route, conditions, fuel, speed), please share. If the data proves it, I’m ready to eat crow.

I once again would be willing to bet it will not be more than 1-2 mpg at best.
Well, Toyota/EPA did apple to apple testing. TRD OR Hybrid - which has a spoiler- gets the same MPG as TRD Pro which doesn't. There may have been some improvement, but less than 0.5 or they would have rounded up. An SR5 4x4 with smaller/lighter tires gets 1 mpg better HWY than a Sport (which also has a spoiler), so they didn't just test one model and apply the MPG rating across the board.

Well it appears that I won't be eating Crow? (y)

And when you factor in driving around Town, the mileage I am sure would be almost identical. The spoiler a.k.a. air dam is really only useful at highway speeds and with that, no better than 1 mpg on most drives I'm sure.

That is exactly why I took mine off. It just doesn't look good IMHO.

OP clearly has emotional issues. If you keep using logic and real world data, it's only going to trigger him. More of the name calling, "I'm the only one that's ever worked", calling everyone else haters. Get ready for it you peddlers of fact and truth.

It seems others have been removed from this forum for less inflammatory comments. Just sayin'

Yup that’s one component / everyone can get on a chat bot and it’ll line-out maximizing fuel economy. The OP on this thread is 1 mod for aero, specifically on a halo. It’s a simple add-on & even faster removal given the use-cases for the truck (day/season).

I bought a hybrid with a 6’ bed with intention to customize for summer/winter seasons, improved fuel efficiency. I don’t rock crawl year round, hell I don’t rock crawl 9 months a year. Why the f would I advertise that deadweight year round.

Anyone who doesn’t like the look of a chin spoiler of course will try to shoot it down and have a pissing contest over it’s validity. Nobody forced them into reading this thread. They’re wasting time and no nobody cares what they think. Skip right over them. Do your own due diligence.

I see all these complaints that the TH is a dog on fuel economy and yet the ones throwing shade and getting butthurt over an aero mod are stoked on buying rotopax & aux tanks, super proud to get 15mpg. Enjoy pumpin’ that gas.

There’s some great gen 4 builds with double chins. They take less time to unbolt for trail than it takes to post hate online about em

You see a nice looking Tacoma and I see a Tacoma with Buck Teeth. To each their own. That Tacoma would look amazing if it had it's "teeth" fixed though.
