I just drive normally. 70-75mph. just did a loop from SF bay to sacramento and back got 22.1. stock everything right now.

Drives got be long enough to warm up. My daily 2 mile commute is pretty ass for sure.
Well, you have the record, Is it a TH 24 or 25?

The previous gens were closer to their epa because when you gave them more gas to go faster they just made more noise. Because more throttle didn't get you more acceleration, you drove the trucks more conservatively. With the 4g, when you give it more gas and the turbo spools up it's "yeah baby!" Since you are on the throttle more and enjoying all of that torque, mpg suffers. If you drove with the same acceleration as the previous gens, you'd get much better mileage.

As soon as LongRangeAmerica makes an auxiliary tank I’m getting it. Adding just 4 extra gallons would be worth it.

As my truck runs up on 3k miles it is getting much better fuel mileage, at least once the engine is warm. I now have a tonneau and without the winter fuel blend I am getting around 22 mpg running 70-80 mph, even in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Still below the EPA estimate, but that is OK with me considering the power.

I know there are dozens of posts about mpg and fuel tank size. This post is less of a complaint and just my experience. Downloaded Fuely app to record my “normal” daily driving just to work and back. I’m currently averaging 8.2 mpg. That’s mixed highway and city. That’s wild. I’m using 93 premium fuel. I love my truck. Fuel efficiency is probably the last of my cares but it’s definitely inconvenient having to fill up every 1.5 This does nortdays. Again, not a complaint, just my experience.
This does not make any sense, there has to be something wrong with your truck.
Please take it to the dealer.
I have a thread on this and no one has reported a mpg consumption below 11
There is a problem with your truck

I have my 5k coming up. I’ll mention it then. Though, I am seeing other TrailHunter owners across sites saying similar things.

What does the dash say? I can only assume something is wrong with your app or how you're entering it. I have not seen anyone else with that kind of mileage. If the dash agrees there has to be something wrong. Unless you idle for hours at a time I just don't see how that is possible.

I do idle for about 30 minutes. Dash said as low as 15. Now that I’ve been monitoring and trying to bring it up it says 17/18. Other TH owners have said they see approx 10-18. Definitely less than advertised.

15 sounds pretty normal but on the low end. I get around 17-19 but I take it easy. I would say down to 13 average is believable. 8 once is possible but still impressive. If you're getting below 12 average and you don't know why, something isn't right

Hybrid 4th gens don't get close to the EPA mileage, but 8.2 mpg is nowhere near normal.

I see as low as 15 on a short urban drive with a cold engine and as high as 19-20 at moderate freeway speeds. If your TH stays at 8 mpg it is time to visit your dealer, because something is wrong.
24 Trailhunter here- after 15k miles- my Fuelly average is 15.1. I see as low as in the 12s driving west across the middle states (into the wind) and the best I've ever seen (once, all in town, driving slow, was 19.2, but that obviously is not the usual. 8 does seem low, but if it's right off the lot, there may be some wear in needed. Good luck getting Toyota to acknowledge its a problem, however. All these people with non-trailhunters posting mileage, get bent- you have a completely different (lighter, probably better) vehicle.

If you are basing your 8mpg of one fuelly record- i recommend you wait for a few more. I've had the numbers not add up on one or two fill ups for whatever reason- transposed miles on truck, inaccurate pump, accidentally topped past the first stop. All those things will throw fuelly, but normally you'll catch up after the next two fills. Your numbers don't make sense- your average of 16 shouldn't be higher than your best of 8. Wait two more complete fill ups and report back.

I thought my gas mileage was bad....but not 8mpg bad. 25 TH, just did my first road trip. About 180miles each way. I averaged 14mpg driving avg 65mph. I was absolutely shocked how terrible this was.

Has about 1300miles on it.
My best tank has been about 19mpg mostly city

Idling for 30 minutes at a time will do that. You're literally getting 0 mpg while idling-buring fuel going nowhere...doing it for extended periods (more than a few minutes) is going to kill your average. The longer you idle, the more you'll have to drive conservatively to try to bring up the mpg average.

This thread has lost its original reason to exist, and it was:
The Trailhunter's gas consumption is SIGNIFICANTLY less than the 23 to 24 mpg advertised.
All contributors have reported way less than that.
The second point is that, despite the abysmally low mpg number, the gas tank has been reduced by 4 gallons to 18.2.
So, in the end, we have a truck wonderfully designed for overlanding that probably will run out of gas on the long, say over 125 miles long trails.
I say probably since no one has reported mpg towing a trailer on an off-road trail.
So, lets do just that, let's see, now that Summer is here, what are we really talking about.
That is the point, not the price of gas or better mileage driving slowly, watching the acceleration, etc
In my opinion, it is the best designed and powerfull 4x4 in the world BUT, it does not go far on a tank of gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took my TRD OR on a 130 mile overlanding trip last year and brought along extra fuel just in case. I left the trail with just under 1/2 tank. I was surprised at how good the fuel mileage was.
