Hey all,

I have a 2024 Taco TRD Sport 4×4. Was wondering if anyone could recommend oil catch cans. A quick search recommended the following options:

- Burger Motorsports (BMS) kit
- SXTH Element Catch Can kit
- HPS Performance Aluminum Oil Catch Can Kit
- ADD1 Baffled Oil Catch Can Kit

Any recommendations and explanations welcome.

BMS and SXTH are solid options. I like the HPS one but idk if the lines being too long will cause any issues in the long run. I've read on a you tube video on some people getting a CEL from running the HPS.

You don’t need them on these engines. Port injection keeps the valves clean and there have been companies that refuse to make a catch can because they’re incompatible with the integrated PCV design on the T24A

The new Tacoma (4th Gen) engine has both FPI and DI, two sets of injectors per cylinder (Total of 8), so the low pressure FPIs clean your intake manifold and your DIs provide you with your fuel economy, so you should not need the other stuff you talking about. Just make sure that you run your truck with the recommended octane (87) and always use quality fuel (Top Tier).

While you are correct, a dual injected engine can still have build up of oil in the charge pipes ad intercooler. which is why a oil catch can will still be beneficial for our trucks.

You are correct, they do provide some benefits in turbocharge engines in preventing oil residue in the intercooler and charge pipes like you mentioned but compared to the the initial cost, the added maintenance, specially in freezing weather ensuring that the condensation don't freeze and clog your PCV line, and the factory warranty risk, to me personally, I don't think they are worth the trouble. May those people that also do heavy towing, may find them more beneficial.

If Toyota thought they would increase longevity, they would come with one.

If the water freezes in the can, it'll more than likely blow your rear seal, and guess what the dealer will say about your warranty?
