Oil change, is it even worth going to the dealer for the “free oil changes to 25k miles”?

I did the 1000 mile break in oil change (Toyota filter and Mobil one $37). and I don’t think I trust the dealers enough to even do free oil and rotations!

Who else feels this way?
I did my 2 free (1k & 6k), but have not to returned to a dealer since then (now at 30k).

Haven't even been to have any of the recalls done since there are so many horror stories of the careless techs messing things up.
The dealers in my region who also earn the "president's" award or status always seem to do a plenty fine if not great job.

For other comments I have to wonder who is considering basic stats concepts. It's a top ranking by unit sales vehicle. If it or the dealer problems are bad as some think, those problems would be wide-spread in credible news. They're strong in the PP100 rankings, and if one looks at the federal complaint data, Toyota is huge volume against the more troubled makers.

In my case I am happy to have two oil changes done, getting the recalls done, convenience of a loaner, and two car washed too. The trailer towing recall is an improvement, brake recall's done, and I'd like that display recall to be done before my annual ski bum trip.

I have 44k on my 2024 OR. I've done just the manufacturers recommendation at 10k because I don't plan on keeping the truck forever. I will say, you can hear a noticeable decrease in engine noise after the oil change, that oil is obviously not holding up 10k miles. If I wanted to keep the truck I would absolutely change it every 5k-7k.

Even just doing 5k you can absolutely hear a difference when you put fresh oil in it.

Might switch to 3k intervals at 15k, which would be apt because the engine is probably done breaking in by 15k.

From the various studies Ive come across, typically the oil is fine, but the contaminents are high. Changing the oil filter more often than the oil seems to be a solution. They also make oil filters designed for longer interval oil changes.

Myself, I just do 5k oil changes with Toyota oil and filters. When my free oil changes are over, I may switch it to my go to oil which is Liquimoly 0w-20. Maybe Schaeffers again if the price is right.

One interesting thing I've learned recently from motoroilgeek and his network, is that filters actually improve as they age. ie dirt attracts dirt.

I’m having the dealer do the interval work for now, primarily for resale / records. Will trade it in for a 5/6G or a LC in ~7 yrs on an extended warranty. NIMH battery covered for 8, battery tech improves on this platform soon enough.

My local dealer seems to have their shit together only on the 2nd oil change. 9.8k on a ‘24, scheduling recalls here next week
