Installed Rally Armor mud flaps. I went with these because I wanted something that is flexible so if I come off a rock onto a mud flap it will give and cause no damage. They are on the high end of cost and install. Removing the backing on the spacers was a pain without tearing up the spacer. Also installed SXTH Element bracket and bed step. I plan on buying longer bolts because of my aircraft maintenance background I believe a thread or two need to protrude from the nut. I’ll have to drop the spare to get that done.

I had the same issue tearing the foam backing off - RA said to heat it up with a hair dryer to make the glue soft.

For the SXTH bracket can you feed the bolt(s) in from the other side and have the nuts on the spare tire side? I'm looking at doing this install when my Amazon step arrives this weekend and it would be nice not having to drop the spare (but no biggie if I have to).

To remove the forward bolt, if you are replacing it, you'll need to drop the spare tire. If you are happy with the factory bolts there is no need to remove them and then there is no issue.

Mounted the SXTH bracket and Amazon step. Had to lower the spare a bit to get the original bolts out and replace with new longer M18 x 140mm with plenty of thread outside the nut with flat washers at the head and nut end as well. With blue locktite and 140 lb-ft torque (spec 125+/- 25 for ARB bracket) it should stay on!

Looks great! Where did you find those bolts? Are they M18 x 140mm 10.9 grade using a course thread?

Honestly for what they charge for the bracket should come with the 2 longer bolts

They are not cheap. Granger has them for $5.88 just for the bolt, but the minimum is a pkg of 10 plus tax and shipping. I have looked all over to find something cheaper, but those 10.9 class bolts in 140mm length are hard to find and expensive. While I was at it I also added a matching bag of 25 nuts minimum for another $34.30. Total with tax and shipping $113.72. That is $22.20 more than the bracket itself including shipping and taxes.

I figured I will eventually find another project for the remaining 8 bolts. :wait:

My SXTH feedback was they should offer the longer bolts as an adder when buying the bracket.

My Grainger order was larger as I also ordered the bags of flat washers (used 4) and lock washers (none used) as I wanted everything on hand of what I thought I needed prior to starting the install. Only saving grace was that my company had a Grainger account so I saved a fair amount off of list with an employee discount.

I saw other companies selling the bolts individually but their total cost with shipping was more than what I paid for the 10 at Grainger with discount and local pickup.

I effed up badly as bolts are M16 and not M18!!!

Will the supplied factory frame nut work with the grainger bolt or do I need to get corresponding nuts too? If I use the supplied nuts I believe I would only need a washer for the Grainger bolts, right?

By the way. I’m in OC CA. If anyone needs two bolts I will have some to give out after 7/17. I had to order the 10 pack.

I got new nuts but I don't see why the factory ones wouldn't work. I'd just get a washer for the bolt side like you suggest if I had used it.

Those are the ones I bought and believe will work according to reports by others, but I can't verify it yet since I am still waiting for my SXTH adapter. Those are high quality bolts. I also bought a bag of nuts to go with them just in case I might need it and I know for sure that they match the threading of those bolts.
