Hey guys - I have a Trailhunter and put 17” wheels on it. So far no issues but I’m worried about the recall. Could you tell me how I can check to see if I’ve got an issue with the brake line clearance? I just posted this video about my wheels / tires this morning.



UPDATE: I looked the the rear brake calipers and brake lines closely — they are pretty damn close .. like half an inch for caliper and 1.5 inch for the line. I think this is one of those “watch it carefully” situations and make sure there’s no rubbing. I’m not sure how it would make contact but if you’re off-roading and something pushes that brake line toward the wheel maybe it could. Or if wheel weights shrink that gap and rub the brake lines. So far it looks ok but I’m mildly concerned. Would like to hear y’all’s thoughts on whether I need to revert back to 18s.

I just got my 2025 yesterday. I will get some pictures of the new lines after work. I was walking around in my bed last night and there is a popping noise happening when I walk around the mid-back of the bed. Hoping it's just a loose spare tire.

Toyota is recalling certain 2024 Tacoma 4-wheel drive trucks with 16-inch brakes and 17-inch wheels due to a brake hose issue. The recall affects vehicles in North and South America, as well as other regions.

What's the issue?

• The rear brake hoses may need to be replaced because they could be defective

What will Toyota do?

• Toyota dealers will replace the rear brake hoses at no cost to customers

This is stolen from TW, but it's basically the same as what is currently on the truck, just a little shorter (further from the wheel).

I had mine done last Wednesday. Original hose had about 3/4" clearance. New hose has approx. 1 1/2" clearance and the new hose is ribbed.

Is it just the brake lines? Or are there any other hardware that needs to be replaced? I’d prefer to buy the revised hoses myself and just replace them when I need to do my rear brakes rather than let the dealer handle my truck.

Just the rubber hoses but it comes as a side specific kit with hardware. If you try to do it yourself you'll void the warranty. Put the following in your search engine for the technical instructions.

Ah ok. Thanks. My warranty is almost done due to miles anyway. I’ll just wait a little more then tackle this.

Wow they stuffed yours down against the shield. Mine are still just a loop but shorter as I pictured above in post #53.
