Very impressive buildout. While I am somewhat of a handyman, you're much more skilled than I am.

I had this approach when I took delivery, picked up my Goose gear rear delete and was like I could’ve probably built my own. I guess it depends on how much time you have…GFC’s in-house diesel heater will cost ~$3,500. I did my mine for $140 all in unit+ plumbing, ~3 hrs labor / 4-5 beers over the course of a week. It took more time standing there trying to visualize how I wanted it in the truck lol

After running a tear drop camper you know what you want & need and how to compromise on the two…but I’d still request a walkthrough on that Vecel kit just to see how that daily live-in & workflow will feel. They look roomy considering they’re 2/3 the footprint of a truck but those dudes in the video could be 5’-6” and let’s see him with his gf fitting in that setup trying to use the sink.

A couple duffle bags and a case for kitchen gear versus the the complete built in pantry but yea if you’re out there weeks at a time filtering water from a stream ,organization is key

It looks like you have migrated from the Four Wheel camper idea to the possibility of a canopy camper. I have a Dirtbox Overland. I looked at just about everything out there and thought it fit my needs better, and was a more reasonable value. On paper it weighed 450#. Lone Peak was another option.

I’ve opted for a Tune M1 with a Vecel Outdoors interior buildout. Should be ready June/July. Super stoked for it.

Fascinating thread and I really like trailhunger's build. I've been trying to figure out whether it's possible to build or buy a truck camper for a Tacoma that can fit inside a standard 7 foot tall garage door (or parking garage). How much clearance above the cab do you think should be allowed so that frame flex does not crash the cantilevered portion of the truck camper to damage the roof of the cab? I don't yet have a Tacoma but am thinking about SR5 or TRD Off-Road DCLB. Those are speced as 74" and 74.7" respectively. Does that take into account the shark fin? With a four foot cantilever, I think that the double-height 1-1/2"x3" 8020 1530 extrusion is strong enough that it only deflects at most 1/2" with me and my wife on it. And with a 1-1/2"x1-1/2" 8020 1515 extrusion to hold the roof, this would be 4-1/2" high. If I leave 1-1/2" clearance between cantilever and cab roof, then I'm at 80" or 80.7". I think that would fit in a 7' garage door. Maybe I am overly optimistic. But it seems like Jim Jeffries was able to do this: "How to fit a Truck Camper in a Standard Garage" (https://www.truckcampermagazine.com/camper-lifestyle/how-to-fit-a-truck-camper-in-a-standard-garage/) Thanks for any advice!

My truck and camper stands at 7'2" high.
I actually had to put an 8-ft high garage door in specifically for the camper. 7 ft door wasn't going to cut it.

my Trailhunter stock w/GFC V2Pro is 6’-8.5”H / that’s without the beef rack bars on top.
