Excellent comparison and contrast of the two “sibling” TRD Pros (Tacoma & 4Runner). That was definitely a good read to a very mundane workweek before the 4th of July holiday.

There was one area I had hoped you could shed some light on, the front seats.
The Tacoma Pro has the exclusive Isodynamic seats whereas the 4Runner Pro does not. So far, I have not gone airborne to test out the seat’s capabilities but they’re somewhat comfortable compared to my 2nd gen Taco and tres unique. Sometimes I feel like I’m sitting in a luxurious cockpit of a 🛸of sorts. 😅

I personally don’t mind the ISO seats, I often tell my fellow coworkers and friends that aside from its primary function of absorbing shocks and dampening body movement when going off-roading. It’s also a rocket boosters in disguise, lol. Now with my nifty eject button and a sunroof to boot. I can finally eject their butts outta my truck if they ever get too rowdy. 😂

(Kidding aside) For those of us who loves our Tacoma TRD Pros but not the ISO seats; it is possible to swap out the seats from the 4Runner Pro which would therefore provide more space for rear passengers?
The seats... yeees.

They are definitely more supportive than the 4Runner seats and have 1'' longer thigh support, so short people might suffer, Im 6'2 200lbs and they are perfect.

BUT

4Runner seats easier to get in and out, they are still supportive, and you have space for you know... PEOPLE.

To me the Tacoma drives more special than the 4Runner and really like the Iso-D seats, but its a form over function thing and its not the right approach on the long run, you could swap them but will lose the memory function on the 4Runner....

If the Tacoma had the same seats as the 4Runner I wouldn't complain, that Iso-D stuff its just a gimmick and the seats make all kind of unwanted noises, they look ultra-cool tho...

(The picture from the left) @AZTaco Are those taken from a 4Runner?
They kinda look like seats taken from a Tacoma Sport/ OR. (The center console gave it away, since 4Runners have rear A/C vents and the one you shown does not.) 😅

Unfortunately, there are NO dealerships in Houston atm who has a 4Runner Pro in their lots for me to do a comparison on. But according to Toyota's website, the seats from a 4Runner Pro looks slightly thinner (and not as bulky) as you'd find in a Tacoma. So I wondered, if it's not too bulky, could PEOPLE actually switch out the ISO seats with the 4Runner Pro seats to allow more "leg" room for back seat passengers?

It's true, they are very "gimmicky" but which other car manufacturer out there has something similar to this in their vehicles? I'll give ya 3 guesses...and they all come out to NONE. It's quite special, one of a kind and a good conversation starter (for good or bad) + it looks super cool!

Yes, they are super cool… if we could find a way to quiet them down they would be killer!

What noise are you hearing from your ISO-D? Mine doesn't make any noise...but I did find a part that fell out near the passenger side (I have no idea where it came from).

Maybe I haven't broken into it long enough to hear something out of the norm. It's only 2months old...and I'm lovin' every minute of it.

Both pics are Tacomas. Cracks me up when people say "I would have got a Pro, but there's no back seat space" and then by a truck that has maybe 1/2" more back seat space.

The 4R seats may in fact be a little thinner and provide more rear seat room but I don't think it will make it "roomy" enough where full-size adults will be comfortable back there.
