T4G,

Does anyone regret buying their Taco with the sway bar disconnect? If no, has there been any issues with having this option?

Do you need to cycle this monthly like the 4WD system?

I want to transfer my MCX skid plates over, but I believe it will not clear the SBD. My only option would be to use the trail hunter skid plate offered
by Toyota. Does this sound correct?

Thank you in advance.

My truck has the SBD and the TRD skid plate so that plate will clear.

It was for sure something i wanted to have, even if i rarely used it. I don't remember where, but in the owner's manual I remember reading that you should cycle the disconnect once every month or so. It keeps the internals lubricated as they move around. Every several of weeks ill engage it while going down my driveway.

Thanks for your thoughts. I was reading on the 4G Facebook Group about an owner with the SBD that had a nightmare scenario. This is really making me not want to have it. The main reason is I really don't do any radical off roading. I am looking at a 2026 that has all the options I want, and the SBD is part of the options that I don't want. It is the only thing that is stopping me from trading in my 2024 for it. Here is a link to that feedback.

I have the SBD with the MCD skid plates. I have the MT, but I don't think it changes anything and the edge of the SBD may contact the rear skid. I ground down where it may contact in hopes of creating the clearance. Haven't had it off since, so can't say but haven't had any issues with it.

I only wish it would remain disconnected until a higher speed, but otherwise I'm happy with it, it definitely smooths out bumpy roads.

Edit: With the skid plate, it's very well protected, and I think it makes sense to protect it & other parts like the converter from theft.

Guys,
This may be a dumb question but if the SBD took a dump could you replace it with a regular solid bar? If so, do you think there would be a warning light on from the computer not recognizing it was connected?

There is a symbol in the dash for when it's engaged/disengaged, so I'm sure you'd know if it's not functioning.
I'm no more worried about it failing than any other expensive component.

That's a good point. I am probably over thinking this way too much.
Appreciate the thoughts.
