My 2025 TRD Sport came with 265/65/R18. After 10 to 15 thousand miles I plan on new tires and wheels. I would like a slightly taller, and no wider (even narrower) tire.
Since I plan to buy wheels, is there a practical, or performance reason to stay at 18, or to switch to 17?
I don’t offroad, an occasional gravel road, but 95% paved, with little interstate driving.
would there be a weight savings with an 18 over a 17, for same height and width, or would the slight reduction in amount of rubber, be offset by extra bead material?

I am actually trying the opposite direction. I have TRD OR and picked up some take off 18” wheels (same TRD OR style) to go with a 265/70r18. I wanted a 33” tire but didnt want to go to a wider 285/70r17. Lots of choices in the 265/70r18 size. I will probably go with Falken at4w’s in sl.
