hence I will wait for a turbo, as the factory turbo is limited and a CAI is NOT going to get to where I need to go. That said if you are OK with ending at a CAI, I like the Banks; but IMO the money would be better spent on an intercooler which "frees up some HP" and helps in overall reliability and in the bigger scheme of things is not that much more expensive vs a CAI.

Astute observations. Yes, we alter the cross-sectional area at the MAF sensor. We are just shy of the safe AFR limit. There's one intake that produces more power but it runs the engine too lean in our opinion.

Regarding long lasting gains, we've tested several aftermarket intake equipped Tacomas over a period of months and they have not "learned" the new MAF. The increased horsepower lasts as long as the intake is installed.
Good to know, every vehicle is different.

I'm a fan of the banks ecosystem. Their parts are well-designed, very well supported, and the only brand with road-legal parts in CA. I have dual idash, pedal monster, and sensor expansion. I won't be getting the intake because of the filter, but I have boost tubes ready to install, and I'm looking forward to the intercooler and inlet elbows to complete the package.

The iDash alone is really nice to have.

That said, it's not perfect, the iDash mount prevents the visor from going all the way forward, which is annoying. Managing the page layouts for two idash with the phone app could be better. I can't save two unique dash layouts, so after each firmware update, I reflash the page layouts to both and modify one to get back what I had before the firmware upgrade.

No plans for an oiled air filter or exhaust system. I'm looking for long-term reliability and easy visibility of temps, sensor values, etc.

I kind of lean that way too, hence I went with intercooler, tune, and for now a hole cut in the air box facing the fender for a little sound. If I do an exhaust it will be a true 3" to the turbo downpipe and reasonably quite. Hard to beat the stock 2.5 muffler as that sucker is huge had no neck downs as far as I can tell and yes I cut the front pipe off just for a look see.

We’ve tested the Stealth Pod mount in a few dozen trucks and the visor has always cleared. When you have a moment, please see if your visor can slide to the right, thereby allowing it to deploy and clear the iDash.

Do you have two iDashes? How are they mounted? We only made a single pod for the 4th Gen.

We have a whole new interface coming to the mobile app in the next few weeks. You’ll find it easier and even more intuitive.

Prior to updating the firmware, be sure to save the layout using the app. You’ll find a save/restore feature in the menu. Save the settings before updating. Then you can restore the layouts after the update if they are lost.
