Incompetent morons…..and they think we the customers are as stupid as they are, that’s the worst part.
I completely agree, and the sad part is they had my truck for 5 days and put me in a rental for two back tires, and they still couldn’t get it right.

So another update, gents. I took my truck today to Firestone. The 1st reason being the fact that they are open on Sundays. The 2nd, I’m sick of dealing with the dealership I got the truck from. So after 2 trips to the dealer and them keeping my truck for 5 days and the issue wasn’t fixed, the 2 back wheels were off on the road force balancing. Even though Toyota replaced the tires and said they road force balanced them, the passenger side rear was off weight-wise by 3oz and the driver side rear was off by 1/2 ounce even though there wasn’t a weight on it to begin with because the dealership sucks. I can finally say after having Firestone road force them that she rides smooth and comfortable, which is a first for me. I can’t believe the dealership sucks that bad. It’s a shame I had to pay out of pocket to finally make my truck ride like it should. I filed a complaint with Toyota. Maybe they will reach out and refund me the money I spent at Firestone.

lmao, while that really sucks, it's kind of hilarious to hear of a firestone store fixing toyotas fuckups.

I just hit ~1500 miles on my OR and noticed an odd vibration last night for the first time, twice in short order. Shortly after a cold start, driving up a 9% grade at ~20-25, driving straight. Loud, firm vibrations that sounded like they were coming from the rear of the cab. Someone in another thread I was looking for referred to it as if he were driving over the rumble strips on the sides of a freeway.

When my truck was at about 1k miles I had the rumble strip weirdness too. The first time it happened I looked in the rear view mirror for the strip in the road, thinking I had just not seen it. But there was not strip there even though that was exactly how it felt.

A couple hundred miles later it just went away and never came back. It was when my transmission was throwing a lot of hard shifts and downright scary shifts into reverse, which have also gone away. So I assume it was the transmission and I have no idea why it stopped or if it will come back.

Quick update. The 2nd time in the dealer they reached out to Toyota and opened up a case. The dealer balanced the tires and said that all 4 were out. Mind you my truck only has 800 miles on it. This seemed odd to me. I asked if they road force balanced the tires as I knew they had a Hunter Elite system and they said no it wasn't necessary. They also said that the vibration was still there and there was nothing else they could do for without Toyota getting involved. They gave me a case number and sent me on my way.

I called Toyota and explained the situation and they said they would be in contact within 1 business day. That was 5 business days ago and still nothing so I'll have to reach out again.

Driving the truck the vibration is still there. I took the truck to discount tire and they confirmed that all 4 tires were in balance and had road force numbers that were in spec.

Toyota finally looked at the truck and confirmed that the vibration was "normal characteristic of the vehicle". I had an opportunity to test drive another identical vehicle 25 OR long boi and it vibrates just as bad around 25-35mph. I'm not sure if the issue is specific to long beds or if all configurations have this issue but sadly this one will be finding a new home soon.

Its weird they are calling this a normal vibration. It definitely does not seem normal if some trucks are not doing it. I have noticed this issue in the Tundra demo we have at my dealer and with my past experience as a tech, this almost feels like a torque converter or driveline issue. Definitely is not normal as the TRD OR and Sports I have driven around do NOT do this at any speed.

I test drove a few more yesterday just to see if I could get lucky. So far 5 out of 5 long beds I've driven had vibration and 0 out of the 4 short beds had vibration.

On a side note, I went to check out a clean 2022 Tacoma at a Graff Toyota of Chesterton Indiana to replace my truck. I have 2,200 miles on my 2025 TRD OR with premium package (MSRP was just over $54K) and they offered me a whopping $37,500. I had to fight with them to get my keys back and walk out the door.

Vehicle vibrations in any brand new vehicle are definitely abnormal. The dealerships response that this is a normal characteristic of all Tacoma's is total BS.

Let's use common sense. The only visual parts that are spinning when driving are the rear driveshaft and wheels and tires. The root cause of the vibration you are experiencing can be traced down and eliminated by a competent mechanic.

My guess? Flat spots in the tire(s) or out of round tires from the factory. It happens as every single tire coming out of a factory is not 100% defect free.

An unbalanced driveshaft is also possible but not probable.

Best of luck as I know this vibration on a brand new vehicle must be frustrating. Keep us posted.
