Not that I am here to defend Dealerships per se, but I would think this is more of a Toyota problem.
Yeah - the transmission failures are on Toyota, but the dealer didn't check out the truck the first time it was in and used the lame "learning software" excuse to avoid doing their job. That is not the sign of a good dealer, but maybe there aren't anymore of those left at this point.

Recommend any cheap ones?

They're a dime a dozen on Amazon, just search "obd reader":

That first one will be fine. The 79$ second one is nice if you don't use your ODB port for anything else (I have a scangauge3 attached to mine), and want to be able to just read (and screenshot, etc) codes on your cellphone.

I wouldn’t take the risk I asked for my money back and find a new truck

Until the warranty expires, the risk is really minimal at best.

If something is going to go sideways, it will show up before the expiration of the warranty but I get it, if you don't feel like driving that Truck I would certainly exchange it.

At least you would have record with the one that gave you issues to start with and it would be easier to twist arms with a known problem as opposed to a totally different truck down the road.

I personally wouldn't be afraid to keep it with a new tranny installed.

Even then, there's a TSB/recall and if anything else did happen, even outside of warranty and you have the same issues codes it's still covered.
