For those that have the ventilated seats option…I find that they only cool the “seat”portion….but not the back support area of the seat like it does for the heated seats?

The cooling does work for both front seats (bottom portion only but not the back) I don’t have any seat covers and it is all stock. Even when I wear a very light shirt, I can only feel cooling on the bottom of seat but not on the back.

I have never had ventilated seats before and not sure if this is normal or if there is an issue with both my seats. If not the norm, I will take into dealer but thought to pose question first.

This is my first vehicle with ventilation seats as well. I find it interesting the seats actually draw air into the seat versus pushing air out. You can take a small, thin piece of paper, business card, or tissue and see the more active areas of the perforation. For my seat backs, only the upper 2/3 is pulling air.

Same here on my first vehicle with ventilated seats.

I used it for the first time a few weeks ago and my immediate first thought was that the seat back portion, although working, is extremely weak compared to the lower portion. I can definitely hear airflow in the upper portion, but my back is jealous of the treatment my ass is getting.

Wasn't sure if there was something wrong or if that's just the way they work since I never had them and nothing to compare.

However, my son has a Mustang with ventilated seats so asked him when he came home that night and he said his work the same way. Hearing that made me feel better about something being wrong vs that's just what you get, which is better than not having them at all.

Mine seemed to cool the seat only until the AC went out yesterday...... Will ask the dealership to check it when it goes in Friday.

The noise was throwing me off at first. It’s the loudest I’ve heard for cooling seats. I thought I had a speaker somewhere that was all static.it works. I think the a/c is amazingly cool. I do have a white truck though, big difference than the black Honda pilot.

It seems like there are no lower back vents where the lumbar adjustment is. So it's just the seat and the upper back. Lower to mid back seems to have nothing.

Update:
It was really hot here in NJ the other day so I took the opportunity to use the ventilated seats again and things have changed........

Since I've only tried them once or twice since I got my truck last October and only when it got a little warm this spring, I've ONLY used them on their own just to test them out (never with the AC on also). As I said in my original post the upper portion definitely left something to be desired, and even the bottom was just ok.

On the way to work yesterday, in was a little cooler in the morning so did my usual and only turned on the ventilated seat and not the AC. However, on the way home it was 89, so I have the AC on full blast and also turned on the seat. It was first time I had them both on, and it was a noticeable difference, both in the temp of the seat as well as the airflow, BOTH upper and lower.

This supports:

meaning that although you can turn on and use the ventilated seats on their own, for them to really work as expected or "fully" they require the AC to be on also.

Anyone know if it was just my imagination or if this is really the case? Could it have been that it was just really hot and it "felt" stronger and cooler?

I checked the owner's manual and there's no mention or reference to using the ventilated seats on their own vs with the AC. The only requirement is that "the engine switch needs to be ON".

I think they just blow cabin air. There is a vent under the front seats so maybe there is a pickup for the ventilated seats. I'll have to take a better look under the seats to see if there's any ducting to the air vents from the seat ventilation.

That would definitely make sense and explain it. I'll have to take a look also.
