Added some TVDvinyls to my truck today, and removed the rubber plugs from the drains in my doors, I may remove the white decals from the Tacoma badge in the interior but we’ll see

Installed CBI Super Stock Covert Bumper. I chose the super stock model so I would not have to touch the radar, Rigid fog lights, and 2 sensors. Only had to cut out the plastic white and silver below black area with the fog lights and sensors. The order lead time was 9 weeks 2 days with 6 days shipping. Arrived yesterday afternoon by Fedex @ 4pm and I came in from the garage at 945 pm. Took 5 1/2 hours with 45 minutes of that trying to figure out how to get the top corners of the grille to come off the sides up behind the fender flares. Watched their CBI Youtube video of an Offroad Taco install multiple times but the Trailhunter has a few step more and a couple of steps less and then a couple of now what do I do to figure out on my own.

Also installed Badlands Apex 12000 winch, but Yotamafia will do the wiring hookup. I'm not going to attempt with this hybrid and the battery is also under the rear passenger seat.

Only one hiccup, I forgot to plug in one wiring harness that goes to the radiator grill shutter, drive-start control system and radar. I drove the truck last night and there were not codes. This morning going out the driveway, all 3 popped up with check engine light. The Trailhunter displays what is wrong instead of needing an OBD reader (see photo). Went back and watched the install video a couple more times watching for harnesses that get unplugged and I realized there are 2 harnesses on the driver side but 3 harnesses on the passenger side. I forgot to re-plug the harness deeper down below the top 2 plugs. I cleared the codes, drove the truck, no more code.

Final thought. Wife says why did you decide to do this yourself and not pay Yotamafia to do it? $1k reasons such as Roam boxes and an awning.

How is the bumper working out so far. That is one I am considering. Where there any quality control issues? Where their any install instructions?

Thanks in Advance

Starting a general thread for all things mods done to your 4th gen! From super basic to super expensive! I picked up my underground yesterday. Ordered the TRD High flow air filter for it already as a simple start.

my mod list

Custom exhaust 2.5” corsa performance packed resonator to replace the factory muffler (middle section)
2.5” Y pipe at the after the axle (replaced the whole rear section behind the axle) inished with 5” dual angle cut Tips it’s really FKN quiet at 72mph, ZERO drone, spent $360 all together in parts and labor, it’s quieter then AWE and Corsa version setup and Magnaflows, it’s between MBRP or Flowmastee if you wanted to compare it to sound as far as loudness

20 piece rock lights GloPro LED (2 of em used as flood/courtesy lights tapped wires into the bed light)

22x12 -44 on a 305/45r22 (NO RUBBING, only trimming I did was due to removing the front chin spoiler was the fender linear carpet cause it overhang so I zip tied to the frame and pushed it in, n the same thing with the back part of the front linear cut n pushed back after removing the crash bar brackets behind both front wheels)

Readylift 2.5” SST Kit with UCA (UCA sold separately)

S-Pod Mini6 to control all lighting (no light bar yet hooked up yet)

Baja Designs S2 Sport reverse lights

1 of 1 taillights I did it myself and paint matched the black trim (edge) and tinted the lenses n finished off with 2k clear coat

4x mic running interior lighting to serve as foot lighting (can change colors)

The bumper is great and the Badlands Apex 12000 winch fits inside the bumper perfectly, did not have to remove or re-position anything including the solenoid on top of the winch to mount somewhere else (as in the CBI video). The total weight up front with bumper and winch is about 120 lbs. Truck is still level. Keep in mind I have a Prinsu roof rack holding a 42" light bar, 8 gallon water tank (90 lbs when full), 2 Roam 83L boxes filled with tools, recovery gear, mini floor jack, Starlink, and other stuff. The bedrock is a Kuat Ibex (150 lbs) holding a Roofnest Condor (170 lbs) with two 4 gallon Rotopax full of gas, plus 4 Maxtraxs. Took a road trip last weekend 17.5 mpg on flat Florida roads (rolling hills on I-75).

I had a few quality control issues with some of the nuts and bolts which is not necessarily CBI's fault. They do not make the nuts and bolts, they make the bumper but it is still a little frustrating have to go to a hardware store or Tractor Supply to match some of the hardware up. But, if you pay someone to do the install, then that is not your problem. If I had to do it over, I would still do the install myself. Saved a lot of money. It is not really hard work if you have someone helping, but I was alone. I just followed the video for the most part. Watched it four times before I started and then step by step during the process. I had Yotamafia wire up the winch last Monday and that cost me $450 for 3 hours work. I had all the wire and other parts in the winch box.

They send NO directions. The CBI install video is close, but Trailhunters are not the same as the Offroad model in the video. If you do the super stock covert bumper you only have to cut out the silver part, no sensors, lights to deal with. The CBI video is the regular covert bumper install and that is more complicated moving sensors, lights and cutting the radiator shutter, and other stuff behind the grille. The guy in the video tells you about the difference of super stock and regular covert, and when to skip ahead, but his mike cuts out a couple of times and you have to just watch and guess.

When I went to Yotamafia last week, they asked me to bring my TH to their open house on June 7th to display it. That will be perfect, as it will be fully loaded for my overlanding trip to Colorado, Utah, and Idaho as I will leave from there.
