Rear passenger leg room is so bad, to the point that I almost thought of ditching.
I'm 1 year, 36,000 miles in.

I really love most everything about the truck. It's my first Tacoma, but not my first truck or Toyota. Midsized has always been "my size" having loved my Dakota, and owning every size from big diesels to first gen Rangers. Oldest truck being a 1985, newest up to this point was a 2005. My favorite thing is probably overall how it drives. Quiet in the cab, with more power than than nearly any midsized truck has ever had, while also getting double the average fuel economy of past trucks. I actually do like the lack of soft touch materials (They disintegrate if you keep the vehicle long term).

On the "hate list" there are a few things, but nothing crazy or deal breaker. First, I hate how it sounds. The trade off for that economy is direct injection and 4 cylinders. The truck makes terrible "truck noise". There's no fixing or modding it away either as no 4 cylinder truly sounds good. Second, the lack of ability to easy install a proper trailer brake controller (unlike every other truck ever made). Third is the seat color options for cloth, the Grey and Black stains easily and matches nothing on my truck. Last is the tank size, I'm stopping just as or more often than every other vehicle I've owned. The fuel economy is good, but the tank is so small I feel like I'm constantly filling it. To put it in perspective, my 1985 Ramcharger, a literal brick on 1 tons and 35s with a v8 has roughly the same range per tank.

Although I haven't quite owned the truck a year, unless there's a catastrophic failure I doubt my mind will change on anything else. I spend an hour in the truck, 5-6 days a week just making the round trip to work. Plus, living out of town means I spend quite a long time in it even on my days off. I'll mod most of the little things I dislike away, and even a couple from the "Hate list" in time.

2024 Sport Hybrid here. Hands down the best machine I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. My only two gripes are fuel tank size (big surprise, right?), and the awful remote start system from the key fob. Getting the timing down is super obnoxious, and half the time it just doesn’t register. I suspect it’s deliberate to gently encourage use of connected services, which I vehemently refuse to pay for.

I'm at two years on my 24 Off Road at the end of April. I think the fact we all have nearly identical gripes is a testament to Toyota really getting it right with the 4Gs.

Sure, the Honda Civic gas tank, lack of grab bar on the A pillar and the anemic JBL system are all a little shitty, but my only genuine gripe is the not-so-premium premium suspension I gladly forked over several additional grand for.

Feel like that's my fault more than anything else. Whether it's Toyota or any other manufacturer, they're going to do everything they can to value engineer the shit going into their vehicles.; whether those parts are being made in-house or provided by Bilstein, ARB, or any other manufacturer. In hindsight, I'd have bought an SR5 and then invested my savings into a truly high-end off road suspension system instead of believing that the TRD Off Road Bilsteins are actually Bilsteins.

I'm lucky to have a good dealership and Toyota quickly made it right when I blew through a top hat, but just seeing critical wear components so poorly cast left a taste in my mouth.

All that said, I can't imagine being happier with a different truck. Sometimes I'll check out other manufacturers forums just to read their horror stories.

Gas tank and milage
Wiper noise
Rear seat space. Honestly all cabin space is too small. Grown adults cant fit in the front without banging knees on the glove box and I got the seat all the way back

1. Gas tank size
2. Wiper noise
3. Driver side window screech
4. The fact that my GF's Subaru has a meaner engine/exhaust sound

Honestly, hate is too strong a word - these things annoy me, but I love this truck. Daily drives way nicer than any vehicle I've ever had, and handles off road with zero complaints.

The Good...............engine, trans, ride quality, steering feel, ease of maintenance. The Bad............cheap feeling buttons, switches and shifter, thin fragile paint, inaccurate gauges, small gas tank, hard plastic interior, lacking in features that base models in other brands have like power seat.

I love my SR5 quite happy with it
has everything I need
swapped grill ,added Methods , AT's & flairs to cover them , added leather seats
the cloth seats were my Only gripe
Did not like them at all
redid the front seats to a thick full 100% leather coverage Charcoal that matches the dash color
matching Nagihide pho backseat covers
never intended to have back seats wanted a Prerunner but this truck was discounted soo much
i saved 6k & got a color i wanted
at the time i bought the only Prerunners were white

2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road
2024 trd off-road bought in April of 24, approximately 37,000 miles.

Things I dislike:
1. I had the same trim in a 2020 model ( base off-road ) Toyota cheapened out in several areas. My 24 didn’t come with wireless charging, power rear window, side mirror turn indicator lights, power driver seat, power outlet in bed, storage cubbies in the bed, plastic backing on rear seat backs when folded down and wireless charging.
My 20 model as a base trim off-road had all of this. In order to get the same amenities I would have had to spend $8,000-10,000 more for specific packages.
2. Smaller gas tank
3. No driver side grab handle ( to be fair my 20 model didn’t have one either ) But aftermarket provided ( Real handles. )
4. No real grab handle on passenger side. Some people have hand/wrist problems and might need to use their right hand instead of their left (which it’s designed for/or vice versa..
5. No metal skid plates, not one
6. Lack of rear seat leg room. Toyota said that they didn’t lengthen the truck because people want to be able to park in their garages. Not everyone has a garage but most everyone has family or friends that need space in a vehicle. The truck is a good size but Toyota could have done better.

Things I like:
Everything else
It rides, drives, handles, and is more comfortable and quicker than any Tacoma I have ever driven.
Tech and safety is improved but non of the improvements are enough to excuse Toyota for ripping their customers off with fewer amenities and a higher price point for exactly the same trim level on a different generation. I guess that’s their excuse (new generation model) idk

Overall I am pleased with it. Haven’t had any major issues so far, just a couple of recalls.

I know it's been mentioned a few times, but I'm just so perplexed by the wireless charger. Not only is it finnicky and only charges when you find the sweet spot, but it's so grossly underpowered. Obviously a wireless charger doesn't deliver juice as quickly as a wired connection, but I'm not even sure if the wireless charger delivers enough juice to offset the battery drain from using Carplay.

I fixed mine. I have an apple phone, so I purchased a 3d printed piece from Etsy and two mag safe chargers, plus stickers to blend in. Popped and plugged right in. Charges great and holds the phone in place even off-road. Cords run through a trench behind and only enough cord for plugging in is all you see.

Hybrid TRD OFF ROAD. gas tank size. Just about everyone I have read on line says suspension is nice and compliant, I find it too harsh for daily use and off road.

Now that I have had mine over a year. My complaints are very similar to everyone. Fuel tank size for one. I know the back seat has no real leg room and I knew this before purchasing. I'm ok with that as I really don't have rear passengers. My previous '13 TRD OR had navigation and did not require a subscription vs this one. The remote start should work better than what it does probably to make everyone go through the app. I feel like the JBL in my '13 sounded a little better not by much but that one did not have the screen this one has and everything that goes with that.

Part of the reason that I went with the TRD PRO was to get all the available options. I really like the vented seats (really hot in Texas). 360* view. Even though I can't see the front end of the Taco the front camera is set to auto and am able to see where the front end is. Way too many items to list in the likes section to mention them all. I really enjoy the Hybrid system that gives me effortless power at my disposal. I'm glad that I waited the the '25 so that some of the bugs should be addressed from the '24. The '26 should have less issues I would think. For reference, I've had every Tacoma Gen since my '99 Tacoma 4X4 OR extended cab. My wife still drives a '23 Tacoma CC. What can I say I love Tacomas.

Just over a year and 10k kms….my honest take as a first time Tacoma owner…prior long time 2nd gen Tundra owner and current long term owner of non-Toyota full size half and HD trucks…

Dislikes:
-fuel economy, range, and tank size is pathetic. Seriously, most half tons today will get the same or much better mpg…and it’s more truck
-fuel/oil dilution in the winter, resulting in frequent oil changes. It’s unacceptable
-backseat is too small…smaller than the 3rd gen. If you have a Pro model…it’s basically a 2 seater vehicle
-for the price of top trims, memory seats and power folding mirrors should be included
-multimedia interface sucks…it frequently refuses to connect Apple CarPlay and also randomly switches between modes, without your input.
-remote start via app and key is pathetic
-subscription services, and the constant nagging is annoying
-paint quality is the poorest in the automotive industry
-frame integrated hitch makes it an easy total loss in even mild collisions
-overall quality of the new Tacoma is completely foreign and not even remotely relatable to the legacy Toyota QDR and solid reputation for build quality of past generations. This 4th gen does not have that Toyota-quality heritage built in it….it’s been stripped, plasticized, and cheapened. The corporate bean counters and EPA worshippers really got a front row seat at the 4th gen Tacoma team. There are far too many squeaks and rattles, and cheap interior plastic materials. It is NOT and never will be the exceptional Toyota experience that I enjoyed with my 2008 Limited crewmax Tundra for over a decade. And man do I miss that truck!!

Likes:
-resale value, hopefully?
-still the unmatched midsize king
-hybrid option is class exclusive and that alone elevates the Tacoma far beyond the competition
-aftermarket accessories and options are abundant and endless
-reasonably comfortable to drive
-styling is fantastic; retained options of bed length is appreciated among owners
