Hi all,

I recently received my Banks intake after a few weeks wait. I haven’t seen much on this intake other than a few recent yt videos so I just wanted to give my thoughts.

1. I went Banks because their proven record and my experience growing up using their products on turbo diesel applications. I was excited when I saw they were going to supply modifications for our tacos, so I went for it.

2. I chose dry filter just because of the whole oiled filter / MAF fouling experiences I’ve had in the past. This is just my preference and I’d still trust an oiled filter from Banks. Also the filter is HUGE.

3. All the parts feel and look high quality. The installation took 20 mins and that was even with me doing it in the dark because I had to catch a flight in the morning. The instructions are very clear. No way to mess this up.

4. I chose to keep the side cover unplugged for more induction noise and (maybe) flow. The induction sounds are awesome. You can really hear the turbo drawing in the air and building the boost. When releasing the pedal you just get a very slight stu-tu-tu. Not annoying at all.

5. Main thing is that the turbo definitely spools faster. There is no delay in building pressure. This is the main win. This is combined with an OTT tune. Building boost is way more addictive, although I’ll probably need to practice some restraint for mpg’s while commuting. I’ll report back after I get through a few tanks to see if any mpg change.

Appreciate the write-up, I'm awaiting CARB Approval and hopefully that coincides with their FMIC and boost tubes.
I have the iDash and love having all that information available.
Banks does it right.

Does your filter have play in the air box? Definitely not snug.

Interesting! Mine is very snug. I had to press it in pretty firmly to get it to seat. I wonder if that’s the correct filter? I’d email Banks.

[/QUOTE I would agree with the faster spoiling of the turbo. Traction control light kicked on in sport mode for the first time on the back road test loop. Sound of the turbo 100% better.

I appreciate the review @Cabby30 ... I can't decide on which CAI and Banks was one of the options. I was just wondering if it will set off any check engine light on a stock tune. You have the OTT tune so it probably won't set off any lights.

We've gotten some data from the field now that we are seeing more of these in wild. We've not had issues with this intake using the OE MAF calibration data on gas models and non-Pro/Trail Hunter hybrids.

Thanks for the info Justin... an OTT tune was also my list.

I decide to go with the Banks intake with the dry filter a while ago and it’s been great. I did have some doubts if I should have got the oiled one instead.

Well, last week I got an email from Banks Power that they are going to send me the oiled filter at no charge, they found if/when we take our trucks off-road the oiled filter protects better. Great company, they won me as a customer.

I wonder if any of you who got the dry filter also received that email. I just received the oiled filter and installed it.

I didn't receive the email but I did receive the oiled filter in the mail last week. I guess I will swap it over.
