Is the plate in front of the light removable so I could create one to block off the area?
Yes, the front plate is bolt-on. It would be easy enough to put whatever you like there.

Forgive me if I missed it, but I’m curious if the shackle mounts are directly tied to the frame mounts or if they’re just welded to the front plate?

Trying like hell to find something that is tied directly to the frame rails for a proper recovery point.

thanks!
The CBI mounts look identical to the pic Victory posted. They are not continuous through to the frame mounts but it does look like maybe they were cut through and welded on both sides. It's kind of hard to tell now that I've got it mounted but the shackle mounts certainly seem beefy enough to me to do the job.

After completely reading this (and not just skimming like the first time), I'm unsure if I want to go this route. How frustrating. The inability to bolt the bottom of the bumper you mentioned makes me nervous.

I wish there were more options for simple bumpers like this. Every other company that offers anything remotely similar has more spots for lights that I don't need, a giant logo in the middle, or both.
I know nothing about this company but it's a nice looking bumper and might just fit the bill.

I know I'm being obnoxious, but it still has a terrible logo at the bottom.

I even considered going up in how much I'd spend and considered Addicted Desert Design, but they said it won't work with the stock skid plate and want $600 for theirs. 🙄

Curious how your bumper is holding up after several months. Evaluating this against several others. I have a light bar in my Grill so I don't need lights. Not going to put a winch in, at least right away, but being able to is a nice option.. The simplest one is the NYTOP Hybrid Bumper. No cutting, no winch and no lights. It is also very expensive and I don't think it provides as much protection as this bumper.

The Cali Bumper looks good, but I would have a big empty space with no lights

The RCI bumper looks like the best in this middle bumper area, but heavier and more expensive.

My goals are minimum cutting, keep the middle area so the sensors are not disturbed, provide better recovery points, light weight and provide more protection than the current one. I consider this more of a front bumper skid plate than a full bumper. Having the option for a winch later is nice to have but not fully required when push comes to shove.

This CBI bumper seems to cover all those needs and wants. Concerned about the quality control and how it is holding up.

Thanks for the great writeup. Verty few writeups on front bumpers this early in the 4th gen lifespan. Yours is good as is TRDJONs video that includes the NYTOP Hybrid Bumper.

I think the CBI bumper meets all your needs. Outside of the issues I discussed in the initial write-up I'm perfectly happy with it. It still looks brand new and I have no reason to believe it won't for years to come. Living in the PNW it's gotten wet plenty but there's no sign of rust and no chips in the finish. I would try to contact them and have them verify the issue with the passenger side fender mounting hole has been resolved but outside of that I'd recommend it if you're ok with being on your own once you get it.

As a follow up to my original post, I tried to contact CBI and let them know about my issues. I sent them a link to this write-up and told them about my issues and concerns. The only response I ever got was "thanks for the feedback". No further follow up on their part, no "we're sorry about the missing mount point for the fender", no "we'll make sure this is fixed in future iterations", no communication at all. About what I expected.... I am still happy with the bumper overall though.
