Fortunately, I have enough for a couple of years. Hopefully the Mideast situation is settled by then. But prices will never get back to the $32 I paid for this batch.
Costco
It's only getting worse because a major pipeline alternative has been reached and shut down and other f*ckry going on.

I was thinking to ask my wife for her car in the upcoming ski season. Beyond it nice, it always gets 10-20 MPG better than the Tacoma can. I'm sure she will respond with telling me to figure out how to fit the long bed in her garage stall - it can't.

Our Tacoma is mostly a tool and sometimes takes a 2nd car role. I'd not want it for the long commutes many do for a few reasons.

:)

I’m old enough to remember the gas rationing and long lines back in the ’70s. Hopefully we don’t get anywhere close to that again, but I’m not holding my breath. 😬

LOL, yeah I remember that. 1973 Phoenix, I was volunteered to be the gas getter and wait on lines that went around the block for my parent's car as well as my Grandparent's car for the 10 gallon max allowed. And only on odd/even days based upon your license plate number. That's the stupidity that got us another stupidity, the 55 mph speed limit.

Costco
Still cheaper than Wally World. I picked up enough Pennzoil Platinum for both my vehicles for the next year and a half. And it was $35 for 5 quart jug.

Used to be 32 bucks and now it's 57 bucks per 5qt in my area.

The Costco advertisement says $57 for box of TWO 5 quart containers.
That's what I meant, thank you for the correction.

I feel like this is going to get nasty. I’ve got 15 gallons of Liqui Moly 5W40 for my VW/Audi collection. Looks like the Taco is getting 5W40

If you want a group III synthetic, which is most OTC synthetic oils, expect much higher prices and some limited availability. Both of the plants in Qatar that were damaged months ago in this "excursion" produced a large percentage of the world's G3 base oil. They are still off line.....not to mention the road block at the Straight.

This has been quietly brewing for months with the public mostly unaware. I stocked up in the spring and early summer, anticipating this very thing.

Freaking heck. Damn the politics right now. I got 4-5qt jugs in the spring for $59 delivered to my door. It’s 2x now.

When notices began going out this Spring, I created an oil change stash. Similar to the one I maintain for food, I now keep supplies stocked and rotate through them. Within a few days after each oil change, I purchase materials for the next.

Oil and filters did have some local disruptions earlier this year. They've since been stable, but the attack on the Saudi pipeline reinforces the need to lean forward and not wait for the next event.

Wednesdays and Thursdays are often good days to shop for oil and filters. By Monday, the shelves are empty.

I'm no longer comfortable letting the gas get below half a tank, so I re-up whenever a vehicle is 1/2 full.

Anyone who isn't prepping these days is living in some alternate world where everything is teddy bears and unicorns. My basement is full of not only food(and motor oil), but at least 2 years worth of everything from toothpaste, deodorant, toilet paper, trash bags, soap, water, etc.
It's actually gotten so bad that if I grab one or two of something, I will replace it with 10 just in case.

Life really shouldn't be lived like this, but I didn't create this world, I just have to live in it for a while.
