Thanks for the reply, lots of useful information. I joined the Facebook owners' group this summer and you are right about lots of helpful people! I plan to build mine out with some side cabinets that double as a way to get into the sleeping area. I'm a carpenter/fabricator by profession so I'm looking forward to really making something functional and homely. Saving up enough doe to make the LP purchase is currently the biggest obstacle in my way, lol. How much of a PITA is opening the back door with the lip on the tailgate?
I second, on the thoughts of the lip on the Tacoma is a non functional PITA especially with a SmartCap.

Oh that’s awesome! I’m sure whatever you end up building will look gorgeous. Once I’m back home I can snap a photo of my drawers for you (just won’t be until the end of the week now). Side cabinets are nice and probably better for mobility with the center aisle being lower. The main reason I went the route I did was to get a flat loading deck out of it, which has been super useful for me!

Ah. It’s a pain for sure. The workaround is just to open the tailgate THEN the rear door. It reminds me of opening the back of my dads wrangler and the order you have to do anything in. I wanted to be able to open it without dropping my tailgate so I went the bougie route and bought that tailgate cover replacement super pacific makes for their camper for the gen 4 Tacomas instead. Bit overpriced but it does the job! TBH it might be cheaper to either get a second one from Toyota (or just do this to your oem plastic piece) and dremmel down the spoiler and fill the new gap in with jb weld or something then finish over it. Not sure because it’s not what I did but that seems like a decent workaround in theory.

That’s not it! I’m not sure if it’s listed on their site by itself actually. I just emailed them about it and they set up a separate invoice for me. If you look at the “gen 4 kit” they sell with a tailgate lip and the flanges and seals it’s in there, but I didn’t need the entire kit so I asked if they’d be willing to sell the tailgate cap/cover piece by itself and they were cool with that.

https://superpacificusa.com/products/x1-g4-tacoma-adaptor-kit?_pos=3&_sid=33878ad41&_ss=r (This is the whole kit. Which you won’t need)

The guys over there are super nice and those campers look absolutely bombproof. I almost bought a SP, but I wanted the bigger pass thru space for my dog + other humans. No regrets on my end tho

Yeah, the SP looks great, and I strongly considered it. The reason I'm going with the LP is that I frequently take a kayak on my adventures, and I think the LP will allow me to keep it up top with the tent deployed and still clear the windshield because of how far the LP extends over the cab. Someone needs to offer a tailgate lip replacement that is affordable. A lot of Tacomas have camper shells. Thanks, again for your help!

It’s still shamefully messy back here but, this is what my interior is like with ~12” tall drawers. Hope that helps a bit!

And yes I’ve seen a lot of owners run SUPs and kayaks on their roof without a problem!

It would help so much if you can measure both front and rear! 🙏

They have settled exactly 1/2" on both sides.

After driving 500 miles and some light offroading, I do think the 823 is the correct spring rate for my load. The rear feels plush, less bouncy, and articulates nicely. I just don't like the rake, and realistically I won't ever carry enough load to level the truck.
Here are some pics of the front and rear (measurement taken from the center of the wheel ~ I think that’s the proper way to do these(?) but I snapped a pic of each from the ground too just in case.) I have the oem 18” wheels and e load Toyo at3 265/70s

I’m pretty much at full load out weight right now minus getting gas + throwing a bag of groceries + backpack of clothes in there since I’m heading out this coming weekend. Hopefully this helps paint a picture though with the 821s

(I’m parked on level ground but I included my bubble level too for another reference point)

👍👍👍 Your truck is completely level

I'm still debating if I want to lift the front or swap out my 823s. I carry more weight on my receiver hitch. If 821s level out the truck for you, they might be a tad too soft for me.

Yeah the 821s might be a bit squishy for you then! If I carried bikes or anything of substance off my hitch, I’d maybe want one level up from these since most of my weight is in the rear right now (I don’t have a winch or anything going on up front). As it sits right now, these are perfect for me.

I’m pretty sure Dobinsons makes springs that are compatible with the front suspension, though I don’t know the details on those
