Looking more into this it sounds like alot of intakes have issue, even SXTH Element has this same problem with the GR Corollas and even catch cans
The real question is, are people having that issue with the Tacoma?

Well mine is a 6 speed manual so it would be interesting to see if someone else with a 6 speed manual is having thr same problem (manual doesn't rev as high as auto and boost changes probably happen more frequently in the manual due to having a clutch)

So I had to remove the intake, I contacted K&N (great customer service)they sent me a new pipe and y pipe and even with those it still threw the p2c90 code. I tried to see if there were any loose connections which there definitely wasn't, the only thing I could find was the MAF sensor area is not molded even remotely flat which may cause leaks and after trying to tighten the maff sensor i was able to get the Long term fuel trim to improve but couldn't get them to improve enough for the truck to not throw a code. I put my stock intake back on and my long term fuel trims returned to 0% at idle as opposed to -12% with the intake on.

Main question - does it void warranty?
Magneson-Moss Act, its a federal law protecting consumers from car manufacturers denying warranties due to aftermarket parts. They have to prove that the issues were caused by your modifications.

Installed this intake with high hopes of a clean and easy install. K&N does a great shop in r&d and fitment always seems on point. However, this wasn't entirely thr case with this new intake..I chose it over others for the full inlet replacement. Where those vacuum hoses all tie together is a mess, and the provided hose too small i.d to fit on. Seems like a few small hose clamps should be used here and there but arent. It was also missing a bolt to hold the airbox down. The holes in the lid of the airbox dont align with the airbox itself and took some effort (one shown in first pic).

Once installed it looks very nice, turbo noise in much increased at initial spool up. I like the aluminum flange that ties the turbo to intake they added. I've attached a few images from the process. I'll be looking for ways to better finish the vacuum lines though, those appear like a complete after thought from K&N.

Any questions feel free to ask. Kit does come with b/w install instructions, the website has them in color. The MAF orientation can be confusing and the wire is a little tight once in place.

2 bolts were easy, the next to were off enough they were very difficult to get started.

Completed install, does look very nice IMO.

Mess of vacuum hoses.

Factory turbo inlet silencer "manifold"

K&N turbo airhorn installed.

Part throttle initial boost is the most noisy, the "dose" from no bov is fun too.
Have you had any issues with building boost
and keeping a steady idle? Tried putting mine on today and the idle would bog a little and it wouldn’t build boost.

Those were the same problems I had off and, I think the MAF area is the problem, and I would also check the vacuum lines from the grommet could be a problem a line could be kinked.

I got my money back and I got the Sxth element intake so far works much better.

What did you tell them when you reached out ? Planning on calling customer service tomorrow to see what they could do about it

I havent had any issues. That said I had debated a return with how badly the vacuum lines were setup. I am basically waiting for those to fail. IDK, I like the improved inlet design, but Im not sure its worth the potential headaches of the vacuum lines and the added noise (its not all good noises).
