I’ve been using dash cams for a while now, my first one was almost 8 years ago and it probably saved me in 2 insurance claims. My current one is starting to act up (randomly stops recording), so I figured it’s time to get something newer.
Been reading reviews on NY Times Wirecutter, DashCamTalk forum, and a couple tech blogs. I’m not here to promote anything, just sharing what I’ve found after looking for weeks. Right now I’m kind of stuck between these two models I saw recommended in multiple places:

One seems a bit better for night recording, the other has more parking mode features. I like the idea of WiFi so I can check clips without removing the card, but not sure if it’s actually worth it or just a gimmick.
Has anyone here tried either of these? I’m in no rush but want to make a choice soon so I can get it installed before my next road trip. Any first-hand experience or tips would be appreciated.

Stay away from Nextbase. My first dash cam and it over heats and stops recording, takes forever to download and has many times when it is not recording.

For several years I've had a Thinkware in my Tacoma and Blackvue in my funcar.

Timelapse parking mode with g-shock detection for realtime clip saving is helpful if you're concerned about something happening while you're parked.

Make sure there's a battery voltage cutoff, ideally customizable to what voltage the camera shuts down at. With the above brands it's handled by the dashcam itself, no need for special hardwiring adapters.

Wifi is definitely nice, but in my experience hasn't been particularly fast at downloading. Still better than pulling the card if I need only a couple of clips.

BTW - check out the folks at blackboxmycar.com - good info and good support.

I use the Rove R2-4K cameras. They work well, and while I don't have experience with other brands, the wifi feature is good until you drive thru tighter canyons and the wifi turns on and off constantly. At that point I either turn the volume off, or the wifi, or try to ignore it....

I used the REDTIGER F7N, it saved me once. Now I use both the Garmin mini and x310 in my Taco and the REDTIGER F77 4K in my Sequoia.

I use the Rove R2-4K. It's good for the most part. I live where it gets really hot, so it does tend to overheat on my drive home and shut off for a few minutes after sitting in the truck all day. The wifi feature on it (and probably any other wifi enabled dash cam) can be finicky. Any time I try to connect to it, the trucks wifi takes back over on my phone.

In Vegas too - so I think I'll stay away from the one you purchased if it's not loving the heat lol

I'm using Wolfbox Pro 900 and it works perfectly. It have 2 cameras. Perfect for my rear view since I have a bed rack and RTT so I can see the back. They even have the Pro 900 Trio which have 3 cameras.

I have FITCAMx and I think it’s pretty awesome so far. Not bulky and very easy installation. Hasn’t failed me yet and picture quality is top notch
