Maybe a dumb question, but how did you know which springs to choose from?

I went on thier site and they have a lot of options to choose from.

I almost asked what springs you chose. I thought the photos of the springs were an ad. LOL :facepalm:

I need stiffer coils on back with AluCab canopy and camping gear and pulling 3500 pound trailer. These were the ones I was looking at. Hadn’t thought about changing out front coils too!

Changed coils on Trailhunter. Got 2 inches on the front and 3 on the back. And I can't believe how drives much much better - huge improvement. Even my mechanic was shock how trucks feels much better with stiffer coils.

When you say drives much better, as in more responsive because the springs are stiffer? I can't imagine that it's more soft/supple over day to day bumpy roads

It's way more smoother drive. It's les bumpy to put it that way. Before if I go over bumps on the road you really feel them, now hardly anything. Truck feels tighter and better handling overall. It's not a small difference, it's really noticeable. My mechanic drove it before and after and he was shocked how much it improved.

We have exactly the same truck. I'm not planning to change anything like suspension just yet, but eventually I'll be increasing the load and towing a small trailer. Then I'll be checking back and wanting those part numbers. Please keep us up to date on how things work out for this mod. Way to go on the research by the way... and BEAUTIFUL truck!

Will probably do this for my trailhunter when it is time to replace…if not sooner after seeing this.

You went really stiff in the back - why? They offer the 817 for 'stock' weight range, 819 for 175-330lbs, and 821 for 440+. Do you plan to add a lot to your bed setup?

I'm asking, because I was going to go with the 819's in the rear for a full bed rack, rtt, awning, etc setup. But now you got me wondering if I should do the 821's.

I would suggest you to go with 821. Here is how I decided. I took stock truck 3 times out to offroad on local mountain trails here in British Columbia. What I noticed right away that truck doesn't have enough clearance for the trails. And that was empty truck. Truck was making trough the trails but there was some scraping under and I had to be really careful and it wasn't just comfortable. I understand when you add weight it will just go more down so any overlanding would be challenging. So with that said - I don't want just to be on factory height when I add weight, I want to have inch or 2 extra. 440 pounds is nothing in overlanding world. Your tent, all the camping gear, recovery gear, tools, extra gas, food water..... it adds up quickly. So with this coils even after all that I will have extra inch or 2 which will make truck more capable on the trails. Shocks have plenty of travel so I don't see why would you go wit lesser coil? And when your truck is empty it looks awesome and it handles so good it's like day and night compared to factory coils.

sweet, appreciate the feedback. I was more concerned about the ride quality going that stiff in the rear, if the shocks weren’t valved to be in spec with harder springs. But it almost sounds like Toyota/OME went too soft of a spring on the Trailhunters, because another user also reported similar feedback to yours by upgrading to stiffer springs. You just sold me.

Yes they went too soft and this is such a difference in ride quality after the upgrade that I am shocked how Toyota could put those soft springs in the first place.

Yes. On the road now with new TetonX. Wanted to see how it did before changing. Now a summer project after we get home.
