I have only 2000 miles on my 10 month old truck and am curious if Toyota will do my oil change for free even though I haven’t reached 10k miles? I understand that they do two free oilchanges in the first two years?

yeah ,
they will whine about the mileage not being where the manual says
i counter quickly with
the truck is almost a year old & it is called out in time as well(they write that on the sticker)
with a slightly forceful voice
I Want the oil & filter changed now !

at least that's how I handled it
done that twice now to get my free oil changes
i am at 2 years next month
& at just over 5k

Yes, they should change it. 12 months or 10,000 mi / 16,000 km, whichever occurs first.

Yes, it will count towards one of your annual services.

Not only will they do it but they'll bug you until you bring it in if they are like my dealership. Mileage is just one factor of the oil change equation...time is the other.

If you wait until December then your truck will be a year old and they'll do it without question. Toyota says at least once every 12 months regardless of how few miles are on it.

That said, every dealership is different. Some of them understand Toyota Care allows 2 oil changes within 2 years or 25k miles and don't care how you mix and match it. Others seem arbitrarily more strict, only doing them at 1 year or 10k miles, which ever comes first.

I have had my Tacoma for 5 months and have 2777 miles on it. I have had 2 dealerships calling me to bring it in for my free oil change. I told them both about my low mileage, but both have said that it wasn’t an issue.

My dealer put a 5k sticker in the window. I think the plan is 5k, 15k, 25k. But I'm doing the early oil change schedule with intervals of 500, 1.5k, 3k, 5k, then every 5k miles.

But yes, change oil every year, even if you haven't driven enough miles.

some dealers try to get U to use the 2 free services without the oil change
ie: the 5k service

I did mine at 1k, 2500k, and at 5k and will do it every 5k. I just reached 5k at 1 year of ownership this October. I elected to pay for the first 2 and had my first free one at the 5k oil change a couple weeks ago. The dealership didnt care I was doing it on my schedule instead of the manufacture’s. They would have given my a free one on one of the first 2 saying it is documented so they know if I’d have to pay for it or if its on the house. Ultimately its my truck and they aren’t gonna tell me how to maintain it…especially if I am paying them to do the work.
