Hello all, writing this to see if anybody else has had this issue as well as make everybody aware of what I’m having going on.

Driving today in the middle of driving, the transmission went to shift and it jolted the car so hard it scared me. It was almost as if I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could, and then continued to drive normally got to where I was going with no further issues and I’ve been parked the truck and left it.

Got back in it, not even 20 minutes later to leave, and as I was shifting from Park to drive it was jolting really hard more so than normal there’s usually a little bit of a jolt. I get that but pushing the truck forward

I tried shifting from reverse to drive multiple times and it repeated the issue

As I was driving back to where I was going, that same thing happened three times that happened earlier, where it jolted the entire truck in the middle of driving or what almost felt like slamming on the brakes or a really rough shift. It’s kinda hard to explain the entire truck felt like it got slammed for a second and then kept going

Twice when it happened, it happened as I was slowing down and it was a really, really really hard shift.

Then when I got where I was going, and I parked, and I switched between driving and reverse and parked, it was acting perfectly fine.

I apologize for the long ride up. I have an appointment tomorrow. Will keep you guys updated. Please let me know if anybody has had a similar issue.

How many miles are on your truck?

I'm still breaking mine in.

FWIW, I have not encountered any odd behavior, lights or codes. Shifts as expected.

Good Luck :please: with your appointment. Hopefully, it's something simple.

About 6,800 give or take a few so thankfully should be under warranty regardless but still doesn’t make me feel good.

I always worry it won’t replicate at that exact moment or they will say something silly and band aid it and it blows right after the Warranty lol

Thanks for the good wishes definitely made me nervous

Want to add to this point I’ve had no issues other then the cold start first shift being rough which I’ve found is very common.

Thank you for doing some research. I had to rush back to work so I haven’t really been able to look into it too much. I was aware of the recall in 2024 however I’ve never seen or heard of any other widespread issues going into 2025.

I’ve never had a transmission issue on any of my vehicles other than some of them starting to shift a little differently because they have 200,000 miles

However, whatever happened it’s not good. It just feels like a crap ton of pressure got pushed in all at once.
Or skipped or something

As of right now, no engine lights or lights of any kind will know more in about two hours when I leave work

I don’t know if I would word it as feeling like a bowling ball is falling out of my transmission though..

@Someguysomewhere26 You should check for transmission codes, which that kind of behavior might have thrown. In the 2024's the failures were caused by stuck/sticking shift solenoids, which threw specific codes. If you have any of them then Toyota might need to replace that transmission.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Many have reported under filling from the factory. Mine was about 1/2 quart low. Either way you’ll need to take it in to your dealership. Make sure they check the fluid level.

Dropped it off today since I’ll be working during my appointment tomorrow.

The shifting from park to drive got significantly worse the more I had to use it.

Notice the slamming while driving happens a lot more between 35-50 mph

Appt is at 8:30am tmr hoping they find the issue and fix it without much hassle. But who knows.

If it is a fluid thing for it to be causing this many issues wouldn’t there be damage done?

Im gonna guess you're getting a new transmission (if they can replicate it - good luck with that)
