Hey All Quick Question...Did any of you who installed this part (PT226-35241-XX) install a new exhaust gasket at the muffler/tail pipe? Or did you keep/re-use the existing gasket. FYI...my truck only has 400 miles on it. Just got the new pipe (PT226-35241-02) but install instructions say gasket is non-reusable part? Also, if anyone is interested torque is 32 ft-lbf
I was wondering the same thing , i just bought one for like 10 bucks anyways . Still waiting on it .

I don't recall my truck having a gasket there from the factory. I'll double check the tailpipe I took off but I never saw a gasket.

Question about the OEM performance exhaust. Does this exhaust essentially sound the same as the TRD Pro trucks? Or does it only enhance our current stock exhaust with little bit of rumble?

A couple things.

1. A different TRD Exhaust thread showed that the "mid-pipe" for the Pro is different (part #). The mid-pipe includes the muffler and while the muffler looks the same on the outside, it's different inside. https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/thre...er-pipe-vs-trd-center-pipe.14410/#post-180828

2. An early video from the Toyota engineer talked about how the Pro has a specific ANC and ESE file and that those files were available for those who upgrade to the TRD exhaust (where/how, I don't know).

I'm asking my mechanic at the dealer to look into this. I had the TRD Pro mid pipe with Trailhunter axel dump installed. I never was told about the file.
Just to share...I changed back to the old exhaust past the mid pipe because the axle dump was burning and melting the paint on the diff skid. I have a diff skid from a Trailhunter. I don't know if this issue has been reported anywhere else.

I’d have to hear a Pro side by side with my Off-Road Hybrid. Since I have the same engine my guess would be that they sound pretty similar.

Looks like the confirmation I was seeking for this part (PT226-35241-02) on a Long Bed Sport.

Just a few follow up questions if you don’t mind me asking:

1. You said you had it installed. Did they have to add extra length to the pipe, or is it a fit straight out of the box for the long bed?

2. If you know, what are your settings for ANC and ESE with this exhaust? I’ve seen other threads saying the Active Noise Cancellation and Engine Sound Enhancement create issues with the microphone picking up a deeper tone and playing it through the speakers (specifically, sub woofer if you have the Premium JBL sound system).

Lastly, any updated thoughts on this exhaust? I plan to get the catback only, it’s around $400 with some stacking promotions right now. Thanks!

I wish we had a parts person on here that could confirm the part#s for the stock tail pipe on long bed and short beds are the same.
Sorry I am late to the party lol but I can confirm where the differences are. The center pipes appear to be where the difference in length is, as a truck with a 5ft bed has part number: 17420-AK010 for the stock center pipe and the 6ft bed trucks have: 17420-AK020. From what I can see, all the axle back tail pipes appear to be the same. This is checking between a TRD Off Road(5ft box) A TRD Sport+(6ft) and even a Hybrid Limited(5ft).

Yes that part should fit a long bed. The center pipe is only made in one length and technically Toyota advertises this as a complete kit(containing 2 part number) and because the center pipe on the long bed is different they do not list it for the 6ft trucks. But the Rear axle portion should all be the same and you can just buy that portion. PT226-35241-00 for Chrome or PT226-35241-02 for Black.

Thanks! I ordered the muffler back exhaust and a new gasket today. Dealership said they’ll have it ready for pickup tomorrow. Ended up getting it for $504 with the current promos.

Shoutout to @bigd9247 for confirming some things for me. I’ll quote his PM in this thread to hopefully help somebody else out down the road:

TRD Performance Exhaust with black tips:
PT226-35241-02
TRD Center Pipe:
PT226-35240

Muffler back gasket:
17451-F4010
Center pipe gasket (catback):
17451-0D140

Tomorrow I’ll install it. Can’t wait. I’ll have to renew my Carista membership and play around with ESE and ANC to see what I like best. I kept them both on because I didn’t mind it. I have read a member say that the deeper tone of this exhaust can mess with ESE/ANC in trucks with the premium JBL system. They said the bass can make the sub flutter some low frequencies.

I’m interested to see what your results are re ese and anc for those unwanted frequencies.
