Wait, what? I saw the endless comments that Tacos were dead because of the new powertrains and higher prices. Surely the YouTube experts could not have been wrong?

Tacoma owns the midsize truck market in the US for good reasons and none of the current competition is ready to change that IMO.

all the online fan bois forget that they are the super minority when it comes to vehicles. They think they are the overwhelming majority. I would venture to say that 5% of tacoma owners go on any kind of forums related to tacomas

The amount of questions I've seen on Facebook groups that are prevalent and readily available in the forums would seem to highly agree with this statement.

I’m not a 3rd gen fan, so if you are you may find this triggering. When I first test drove a 4th gen I knew it would be selling like this.
As bad as the 3rd gen was with its squashed cab, seating position, gas sucking engine and transmission that was always hunting for the right gear, the new Tacoma solved all those problems.
14 months and 24,500 km in I’ve had zero major issues. Some fiddling with the CarPlay which works great now and easily scratched door panels is it.

Yes, it's like "Welcome to my Tacoma Facebook group, wrong answers only".

Agree 100%
I never could get past the test drive with a 3rd gen.

MT, I had the exact same experience.
Wife bought a ‘24 Outback Wilderness. I am glad I decided to retry Toyota with the new gen. Very happy with my ‘25 TH.

Yeah, really wanted one. Test drove them 1/2 a dozen times, but just couldn’t get past the powerless shifty drive train!

I don't really understand the Outback Wilderness. Seems like it's what guys buy when their wife says "no" to a Tacoma.

My base 4x4 Tacoma is more capable than an Outback Wilderness in any situation.

You're not buying the Wilderness for the handling, because you'd just get the WRX instead. Neither vehicle will handle well with the tires they should have (ATs). The Wilderness is also not small, and the Tacoma isn't big enough to be an issue (we've driven all over DTLA in and out of tight public garages zero issue).

It really feels like a overland larping vehicle to be honest.

I must have bad luck and picked the wrong truck from the wrong dealer because after buying and living with this thing for a few months I can’t believe how many I see on the road. I know I wish I had waited and researched it more.

I had wondered about sales figures. Sure do see a lot of them around. I know that’s always the case when you get a new vehicle, but it seemed to be above even that.

What’s wrong with it

But all the internet people said “new Tacoma bad” and predicted nobody would buy this truck and the lots would all overflow … wonder what happened
