I have 3 years free on mine. I wouldn’t subscribe based on my principles. Subscribing empowers Toyota to do more nickel and diming and they will.
I’ve done well enough to afford it, it’s the same principles that got me here is why I don’t subscribe.
I should learn how to remote start via the remote though. Been lazy as I have a year and a half left on the app. I rarely use remote start though as I do not like idling cold engines.

To be totally honest I’ve only used remote start maybe 4 times of this taco’s life to start up the engine while I am by the exhaust to listen and film it ( I’ve installed AWE catback exhaust).

The sequence is lock, lock, lock in one second intervals (hold press down on 3rd lock ) and the headlight /tail lights blink and will start up.

I hate any “subscriptions” no matter the price. The only thing I used was the remote start for the few months in winter to warm up the truck. I decided I would not support their product. If they offered only that function for far less I would buy it. I am also salty because they just “include” it for all the crap no one wants. They know that it is the only thing people want and the other stuff is crap and none of it is worth $15 a month

That’s the problem with subscriptions these days. Everything, and yes, everything, has a price tag. You can’t go anywhere, do anything, or buy a product without someone offering a “premium” add-on to make it better.

And of course, they’re banking on people forgetting about their subscriptions (guilty) so the charges (and profits) keep rolling in while nobody notices.

lol. I have the key card in my drawer that I’ve never use and my keyfob that is more useful and free to remote start the truck. Everyone has different priorities or preferences I guess. Carry on
I have a couple of tips for you that might enable you to pry open that wallet and part with the 15 bucks every month.

1. Skip the 2 pumps of caramel with a sprinkle of nutmeg on your Starbucks Latte. If you drink 1 latte every weekday, you will end up saving 16 bucks per month.
2. Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
3. Turn down the thermostat a few degrees.
4. Don't tip your hair dresser so much.
5. If your state has bottle return laws, ask your friends and neighbors if they can donate their bottles to you. Then, in essence, your friends and neighbors are paying for your Toyota Connected

these are just some examples to get you started.

Anyone catch this article? There's hope yet, at least in NY (surprisingly!)

“Pay to Use Your Heated Seats?” The U.S. Just Hit Back at Automakers’ Car Subscription Greed:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/oth...ar-subscription-greed/ar-AA1RjxrP?uxmode=ruby
Good for New York although I don’t like the idea of legislating for this. Agree on what they are saying about over the air since there is real ongoing cost for many of these features that are not hardware we already paid for. I would never pay to turn on heated seats on principle.
Like with the BMW heated seat activation fees, I also despise Tesla for having a range capability built into the hardware, but charging people more for turning on the range via software variant. Their greed knows no end. Almost bought one of those cars in 2019. Glad I didn’t. Sure was a fun couple of test drives though. Waited a few more years and got a manual transmission car. Not ready for Star Trek yet. Thanks for letting me digress. I love technology but this really gets my goat. Thanks for posting that article.

Just curious as to if anyone has subscribed to Toyota connected. My one year free subscription is about to expire and I really wasn’t sure if I should subscribe.
$15.00 a month….is it worth it ?
Not for that kind of money. Someone smart enough will figure out how to hack it, and that's what I am wanting for 😁
