Had my truck 2 months. Only about 400 miles on it. Get both an email and a phone call for my Toyotacare maintenance. Me: well it’s only 2 months old with 400 miles but I guess it’s a best practice to get that 500 miles oil change. Dealer: oh you don’t get an oil change until 1 year or 10000 miles. Me: Uuuuhhhhh, what do you do? Dealer: tire rotation. Me:🤦

Not worth my time or gas. You charge $70k for a midsize truck, you charge $15 a month for the privilege of remote starting your truck from your phone. You can’t give 5000 miles oil changes? You know…the industry standard?

Hope they at least have free WiFi in the waiting room.

I changed my oil at 1,250 miles the first time. Paid just for the oil. Next one was 5000 miles later for free.

That is a ball of confusion for me. Two dealers near and the one where I made the purchase all offered reasonable adherence and options for what Toyota includes.

That's also confusing because there's little evidence that many people are spending that much. It's only halo models that get so expensive and they're a minority of what's sold. No one put a gun to my head to buy extra services. Even doing some ski area facilities crew as volunteer and my company's need to do 24x7x365 fast service there's no need to remote start my pickup.

Read your manuals. You'll see all your service options and schedules just like the 3 decent dealers near me knew.

Service prices??? Friends who are electrician, attorney, and CPA had recently complained on the Toyota and Subaru dealer's .10 and .25 hour labor charges. They were bargains against their own rates and nothing forced them to be customers.

So all my free oil changes they just let me do mine early. I did my “5000” at 1000 miles. Did my “10000” around 4500 miles etc etc. my dealer just let me use my credit oil changes whenever I wanted. I don’t know if yours will but that might be an option for you. I used all my credit changes now I just changed myself in between when Toyota does there

I bought a 2025 two days ago. There was no mention of Toyota Care, or any maintenance plan. Maybe it’s because I was an out of state buyer? I wonder if my local dealer will honor any of that.?

Can use at any dealer. Look up Toyota Care on the Toyota website.

I would expect them to honor it. In my area dealers in ID, OR, and WA honor the Toyota care when you call and make an appointment. I've not had any problem, but some confusion, when wanting to change oil/filter at 5000 mile increments.

When I took my truck in for the 6 month/5k miles service I asked for the oil change that is part of the "Special Considerations" mart of the recommended Toyota maintenance. It states that if you drive on dirt roads (or use it for towing) there are additional services to perform that include oil and oil filter change. I just had to pull up the info on the App and show the service manager. He said he was not aware but now he knows and gave me the services per Toyota Care.

I insisted on getting an oil change done at 500kms, I expected to pay for it but I didn't pay a cent, they just took one of my free oil changes and applied it to my first service.

Depends on the dealer you work with I guess.

I'm now out of free oil changes and will start doing them myself.
