Hey everyone,

I’m running 275/70/18 BFG KO3s (E load) on my Sport and have been really happy with the performance so far. The traction, handling, and ride quality have all been great (besides the drop in mpg, but that was obviously expected).

I’m curious what PSI others are running with similar setups both for daily pavement driving and off-road use. Right now I’ve been experimenting around mid-high 30s for everyday/street, but I’m not sure what's optimal. As for off-roading, I usually air down quite a bit, but I’d love to hear what’s been working best for everyone else. What is everyone running on/off road?

Thanks

same tires, same size, same question :cwl:

I've been running about 32-36 (cold) on the street for 4k miles or so. I haven't bothered to do the chalk test. I'm curious what other people will say.

edit: oops, I'm actually 265/70/18 on my E-load KO3's. Still curious.

Try doing a chalk test. Best way for even tire wear. I change mine from winter to summer when I add/remove RTT and other camping gear.

This is the first I am hearing of a "chalk test" and would love to learn more. My stock BFGs came off the transport at 40PSI and I didn't give it a second thought until I had a blowout. I've been running at 36PSI cold and even question if that is correct.

You ever look at the door card? Pretty sure it states 30-32 PSI IIRC. Doesn't account for any extra weight though.

There’s a bunch of YT videos in addition to this floating around. I do a winter and summer measurement since it changes with temp/altitude/increased weight. https://www.intercotire.com/index.php/node/80

I do look at the door card, yes. It never even seemed remotely plausible the dealer would not look as well but a $500 replacement tire convinced me otherwise. It's on me for not noticing when I bought the truck. The placard tells me something like 32PSI, which made the truck feel very much like a Jeep and 36PSI felt better without too much negative impact to MPGs.

Yah, I know what the door card says. I've run 35-37 psi unless towing in the 10 ply tires on my last 3 Tacoma's and have not had an issue. 265 70/17 Open Range Feels solid, tires wear as expected, tire life acceptable.

what does this mean 😂

to me, Jeeps ride like trucks, trucks ride like trucks

higher the tire pressure the worst the expansion joints hurt on bridges lol
