Oh, and the Starlink and a cell booster are really two different products entirely. I have the HiBoost, which is pretty much the same as the Weboost and I never use it but it does have it's use case scenarios. It's good if you're just trying to make a call and barely have a signal, but keep in mind you do have to have a signal for it to be usable at all. No signal, nothing to boost... It's not going to do much to help internet connectivity on your phone. After having one for a while, I think they're mainly good for those who drive a lot and just need to extend cell coverage a bit. You see them on practically every work vehicle in Eastern Oregon for a reason...

If I had it to do over again I wouldn't spend the money on a cell booster for my use case.
Exactly…I’m in the desert quite a bit in those zero bar zones w/SOS and I have clear view of the sky, even in some of these canyons w/shadow cast I’m hearing guys are getting satellite beam albeit not perfect that’s hella better than a booster.

My biggest gripe is that the truck doesn't allow for a Wi-Fi connection, and your phone can't be connected to both Starlink and the truck at the same time.
I have an AI box, which is a workaround to this, but it would be nice if my phone and carplay would work while on starlink.
Big gripe of mine as well! Currently I’m using wired carplay when connected to starlink wifi since wireless carplay gets bumped by the wireless connection.
I found a workaround for this. The USB C connection on the right side of the screen allows for wired carplay/android auto. I start my starlink up, connect to the wifi and then plug my phone in to that port. Sometimes its not perfect and i have to go into bluetooth and pick the phone.

I just put racks on my roof/topper to get the starlink out of my sunroof so this thread has been super helpful.

I appreciate that; I'll give it a try.

$100 is ridiculous for this.

I ended making my own in Fusion and 3D printed them in ABS; waiting for some hardware to arrive from McMaster but I'll test it out on my next camping trip in a few weeks. Even if these are printed in nylon $100 is ripping people off.

I used this setup between the rails on my roof rack. I ran a chinese boost converter from 12V to 15V from my Garmin Power Switch and it works really well.

I got my Starlink Mini inside my Roam box. I designed and 3D print my own bracket with a little touch of customized name on it. It hugs the satellite pretty well and protected from outside elements. It doesn't interfere with the signal since the Roam box is made from plastic, the signal just pass right through. No issues using this while driving when we go to a place with no reception. I wired it directly to my Garmin Power Switch so I can turn it off and on inside my truck using Carplay or Garmin app on my phone.

uh, tell me what's up here SL crew: just got this email they lowered the price for the Mini to $300....Question begs are we getting improved hardware in the pipe or is this mass-adoption price slashing? I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'll be on a barebones plan, I do want data in the desert but, no I'm not 3D rendering or video editing or crunching code full time, maybe an occasional movie, realtime market data yes, email yes, delayed work emails yes, maybe a couple text messages to the wife, that's about it...

A few comments. First, I love mine, but only use it in camp. I've seen several mounts for mounting to a roof rack, but haven't found the need.

I have a WeBoost on my 4Runner and use it often. It works acceptably, but you need to have a signal to boost.

I've noticed a conflict between the Starlink and Android Auto. When I'm driving my phone is connected to Android Auto. At the end of the day when I make camp, my phone does goofy things with the Starlink. Notably, I can't send text messages. Internet works fine, but can be slow. At this time, the only solution I've found it to restart the phone with the truck off. If I need to start the truck for some reason, like to roll up a window, I need to start over with Starlink.

Shopping. As others have said, watch for sales. Home Depot sells Starlink. The website suggests you can order online for pickup. You can't, unless something has changed. You need to walk into the store, and talk to customer service. Make sure you look at inventory for your store. Some stores sells them, others don't. Currently, HD has them on sale for $300.
