Cobb Tuning has been working on this since the beginning of the year and finally got all of the EPA approvals completed. Their published dyno gains look very good. Dynos are subjective, and dynojet vs Mustang dyno debates can take over a thread, but gains are gains.

I come from 18+ years of building, tuning, and racing Subarus, so I am very familiar with Cobb. I already have my Accessport and have had my 2025 TRD OR since March. I will be posting my own dyno charts in the coming days, along with custom calibration dyno charts.
My short term goal is to optimize the stock truck configuration, then go all out on bolt ons. I intend to gather data for many of the available intakes on the market, as well as the SXTH Element intercooler.

COBB is good! Their OTS tunes are pretty solid, plenty of Subaru owners have run them for thousands of miles.

In all honesty, 91+TRD panel filter will get you some gains too. Not as much as the tune though. Anyone running 87 is leaving power and knock protection on the table. This isn't a lazy Chevy 5.3 that will run on crappy gas.

I'm going to ask the question many are thinking.
1. How does a "Tune" affect factory warranty?
2. Can they tell if it was tuned if it is returned to default tune?

This is an ongoing debate. Check the OTT threads. But, the short answer is, yes, Toyota can and probably would deny warranty coverage for a tune.

I would imagine if they really wanted to delve into it, the checksum value is going to be different vs the factory ecu files

1. It will certainly void it if they want to and it will be up to you to prove otherwise although many will say Toyota does. Good luck fighting Toyota over a denied warranty claim when a tune was applied.
2. Yes. Doesn't not matter if it is a piggy-back, accessport, OTT tune or any other tune EVEN if they flash it back to stock. Toyota can find out and any manufacturer does if the claim is big enough (like a blown engine) that you are trying to get covered under warranty.

Let the debate begin...

I want this bad… for a hybrid. It is a nervous consideration though since I got the 100k platinum warranty also.
And I’d probably need some custom tune configs with SXTH intake, SXTH intercooler and AWE exhaust.

The TCM flash abilities and maps are interesting also.
Unless you specifically want an AccessPort, OTT has support for Hybrids.

If someone was really wanting to make sure that they don't void their warranty, i wonder how easy/hard would it be to just buy a secondary ECU and tune that one. So the original one stays as it is. I imagine there might be some number mis alignments (ie. how many miles the chassis has, vs what the ecu might show??) is that even something that would show up?

I'm just spitballin', but if doin something like that saved me the headache whether that was having voided warranty, or lets say freak event the tune got messed up, I've still got my original in the drawer.

If anyone has any insight, would love to hear.

This proposition is much more nuanced and complicated than just a simple physical swap. You cannot simply swap ECUs; they require a synchronization/handshake with other modules in the vehicle to function correctly. This is done through Global TechStream (GST+), and even then, it requires specialized licensing within the software to perform the task.

I'm not able to speak directly on Cobb's device, but many devices leave a few bytes of data in the code even after flashing back to "stock". However, I can say unequivocally, OTT can flash your ECU back to a "TRUE" stock, and it will be 100% byte-for-byte original - It's untraceable.

Does OTT DIY device absolutely need a Windows laptop?
