My truck slows itself constantly especially in SoCal traffic. I have the gauge set to show when my brakes are on and it’s pretty frequently. I leave PDA on because it makes the Tacoma feel like my Tesla.

Look at your gauge to see how often your truck is braking for you.

I think cruise control will drag the brakes, and it doesn't trigger the brake light notification in the dash.

I hate the auto braking, and I have that turned off as part of the lane control feature, but I'm convinced it's still used in cruise control without notification.

I turned that function off, sometimes it will slow down but I don't want to. it makes vehicle shake and like manual transmission.

Hey guys! I got a 24 Limited and currently is 29K miles, as of right now my front break pads is still have around 70% but my read pads all gone, see attached for rear pads. This makes me and my technician confused. It should be front replace before rear one, mechanic guys said he never see this before, generally front will be replace before rear one. I didn't tow and load heavy stuff every day, just a daily commute drive. Is this normal or someone have same issues? Thanks!

When I was around 35k on my off road I had to do brakes all around, every tire. Wish I would paid attention for you what was worn first. I did make sure to look at personally so I was getting played and they were all pretty bad. Does seem weird a the only thing I can think of is the limited trim making something different. I ride cruise control 90% of time highway. Cheers

I also posted about this in a different forum. I am at 35K miles and the dealer when doing my recall said I only had 3MM left. Of course they wanted to change them out for me. I passed and taking it to my indy this week to see if they truly are gone or typical dealer making shit up. I do not keep cars very long. Usually sell them by 60K. I have never replaced rear brakes on anything I've owned. I thought it was crazy at 35K to be done.

70% of stopping power is in the front brake and the rear tends to slide more causing more wear from less stopping .

I only use this less than 10% time and I turned off the function to automatically break by itself. that's weird, generally front will last shorter than rear one.
Braking by itself to avoid a collision uses the front brakes. It uses the rear brakes for things like lane assist and other things. So if you have that on you are actively wearing the rears.

Lost count of the number of vehicles we've owned over the last bunch of decades. Some were 1-ton diesels with a lot of heavy towing. Many driven over 100k. Never, ever replaced the brakes on any of them.

@Sner's post about huge rear brake bias due to the active nannies was an eye opener.

Like the OP, we drive a Limited--purchased new. It'll be a major disappointment if we have to replace the brakes (pads) before 100k.

I’ve never made it to 100k on a single set of pads, ever.
They’re cheap and disk pads are stupid easy to do yourself. Basic socket set, jack, jack stand, lug nut wrench and a c clamp are all you need.

Replaced both front and rear pads + faced the rotors at 25k miles. This to me seems fine considering I drive mountain roads everyday & haul often. Also, I use active cruise almost everyday since I commute far. Just adding a data point..
